Has anyone with both tried using an SR9 barrel in an SR9c?

I'm just curious because I'd like the longer barrel, but don't really want the longer handle.

The other option would be to modify an SR9 handle to take SR9c magazines, but I think there is too much stuff in the SR9 handle to chop it easily.

Actually, there isn't much of anything in the grip below the mag release. It's just a plastic grip and that's it. This sounds completely do-able. You'll have to get one of the backstrap inserts from the "c" and drill a hole for its pin, but that's about it.

Let us know how it goes, I'm really a fan of long barrels with shorter grips. Works well for concealement and looks good too.

According to the Ruger website, the barrels are different lengths. Whether you could pop an SR9 barrel into a c model and just leave some sticking out the front of the slide, I don't know.

I've been thinking of chopping the grip on my SR9 down to compact as well. Looks pretty straight forward.

I don't own an SR9c, but it appears that the barrel's muzzle is slightly larger in diameter than the rest of the barrel, to facilitate a tight lockup between the slide and frame, but allow enough clearance for the barrel to tip during cycling.

If this is indeed the case, then an SR9 barrel in an SR9c slide will have excessive play when in battery.

You may be able to put an SR9 barrel and slide onto an SR9c frame if you don't mind some of the recoil spring being exposed past the end of the SR9c frame's dust cover. I don't think I'd like that, however.

Just getcha some of these for the longer SR9 magazines.

I have a couple of those, I use them at the range sometimes. They make for a bulky package in the holster, though.

The 3.8 compact XDs, and some of the cut down Glocks (19 cut to the size grip of a 26) gave me the idea.

The next time I'm in a shop I'll look closer at the SR9 and see if I'm willing to start cutting.
