Ruger Three-screw Show and Tell

Feel free to share your Rugers. As the thread title says, they need to be three-screws, but can be converted or not to the transfer bar system. We love the history and as always, pics are expected!

I'll start.

Here's my 1970-manufacture Super Blackhawk 44 mag. Made the same year I was born. I picked it up a few years ago at the LGS. The bluing is pretty nice and while it has been "back to Ruger", I still enjoy shooting it. Makes a nice pairing with my Marlin.




This is my little Single-Six. Best I can tell, it was made in '62-63. I have both the LR and the 22mag cylinders. I found it behind glass at the LGS for a paltry $160.

The guy working the counter said that if I put it down, it WASN'T going back in the case! LOL!
I doubt I'll ever send this one back to Ruger for anything. I doubt I'll have to!

Around here I tend to see a lot more three screw Single Sixes than any Blackhawks.

I'm REALLY diggin' that brass handle! Is that a factory Ruger piece? You've got a few of them if I remember correctly? Hmmm?

This one is from 1971. I have only had it for a few months. It is SUPER smooth and makes a 44 feel like nothin'.

I had a Three screw in .44 mag I bought in the early seventies(like many youngin's back then, I got sucked up in the Dirty Harry thing and the Ruger was cheaper and more readily available than a Smith). It never fit my hand and it beat me up everytime I shot it. After a coupla boxes of ammo, I traded it for a SxS grouse gun. While I still use and enjoy the grouse gun regularly(it fits me like a glove), being older and wiser now, I do regret selling the Ruger. A different set of grips may have made all the difference.

I got this when I was 15. Sold it to pay the wife's chemo bills in '83 and the buyer called me in 2008 asking if I wanted it back. He charged me what he paid and $50 storage for the 25 years. I even got the box of ammo I sold with it minus 5 rounds back.

The brass grip frame on my Super Blackhawk is from Ruger, but the gun was not set up from the factory. I ordered the grip frame from Ruger when it was a $20 add-on.

The .44 is the only Ruger I have that is brass mounted, but do have these:




Left is the Ruger, next is a Colt Single Action, then a Uberti .22, and a Hy Hunter. The Hy Hunter trigger guard is from a Uberti Cattleman, and the backstrap is from a Hawes Western Marshal. The Colt backstrap is from an old Colt 1851 Navy. Bought the Navy backstrap from Dixie Gun Works many, many years ago!

A buddy of mine's dad bought this one new (.357), and took off some parts and polished them. Doubt it's seen more than a few boxes of shells. I got to shoot it and it was so nice!

Looks great, especially the grip frame. I have always liked the look of the polished, in-the-white grip frame and might do it to my Rugers someday when enough of the original finish wears off.

I don't know the vintage of the box, the literature from inside is on the New Model Super Black hawk, though according to Ruger, the serial number of the pistol is from 1968.




Barrel markings:



These recessed cylinders are not found on later Ruger Blackhawks or Super Blackhawks.




I am of the opinion that the machining shows less tooling marks on this three screw than my 1982 Super Blackhawk.
