Just reading that Russia just invaded the Ukraine with troops on the ground. Given current climate and recent EO sanctions on Russian made Kalishnakov Concern imports, could this lead to a similar ban on low cost Russian made ammo, specifically Wolf, Tulammo, etc? Some of this ammo does specify Ukraine made- which is a bit of a twist. How would a potential sanction for Russian made ammo impact Wolf/Tulammo that is Ukraine made? Or is this concern unfounded?

Ukraine makes more of our ammo than Russia, but I suspect we may find ourselves pushed to the back of the line there, and in other regional nations, by far, far, far more pressing matters.

Whatever happens, let's try to keep things in perspective, and wish everyone involved over the best and a fast end to hostilities.

^^^This. If the crap over there escalates, sanctions or not, providing us with cheap plinkin' ammo is not going to be a priority.

I believe the principal/largest small arms factory in Ukraine are in eastern Ukraine, in Luhansk, just about 20 miles NE of Krasnodon. The factory was damaged in July fighting.

Russian troops are apparently in Novoazovs'k in the Donetsk Oblast - perhaps a beachhead for a short coastal drive.

I'm not sure about other small arms munitions factories in Ukraine, and whether they are in (or being set up) further west.

Either way, expanded Russian sanctions are likely. Disruptions to Ukrainian commercial supply already happened. If there are any gaps in supply, the market will inevitably fill in any gaps. Hopefully, other factories around the world would likely be eager to fill any void for affordable ammo, if a void even opens up.

This "claim" is from the Ukraine president. Lets wait and see on this one. Also remember one thing. We pay Russia 60 million for a seat to take our astranauts to the spacestation. We don't even make rockets anymore that can put a satellite into orbit. I hope these things keep us from setting anymore sanctions that will stop the Russian ammo supply.

FYI most all cheap steel comblock ammo does come from Russia. The rebels captured the Ukraine ammo plant several weeks ago.

Nomi - this claim was substantiated by independent reports from both US and NATO. The estimate of 1000 troops came from US sources not Ukrainian.

The ammunition plant in Luhansk was damaged in fighting some weeks ago. There are reports of regular Russian forces on grounds. As noted, Ukrainian production is already disrupted.

I may be in the minority, but I would personallly be accepting of the consequences of an extensive embargo of Russian products, even though that may deprive me of some planned range toys and cheap ammunition.

<Folks, let's keep our personal views about world polyticks and events out of THR. If anyone knows concrete info on ammo imports, that's fine. Otherwise, probably off topic. Thank you.>
