how does one go about identifing the make / model of a rifle that has numerous (serial) numbers on many parts of the rifle and no manufacturer stamped on it (that i can see anyway)?

thanks

I do believe you may be the last person in the United States to find out about Mosin-Nagant rifles. :p Just messin' with ya, don't take offense. :)

Be sure to let us know what you find out - you may have a normal old Mosin worth $80, or a Finnish capture worth $400. There's a lot of history behind these fine old rifles and there are a lot of different variants - careful or you may want to get another, and then another, and another... :D

"...go about identifing..." On it somewhere will be a stamping that identifies where it was made. Russian milsurps won't have the manufacturer's name on it the way U.S. military rifles do. State secrets. RC's site will keep you busy for a while.
