Anyone still shoot an RWS 45? I used to shoot my uncles years ago and got a chance to buy one years later and have enjoyed it when I get time. Mine is a 177 and shoots really hard.

A friend has one. At his old house he shot squirrels out of trees and off utility lines at amazing ranges. Too bad he has underground utilities and a built up neighborhood now.

Outstanding air rifle, not your usual "bb gun".
Full size and weight, great for off season training.

I have had one (.177) since the mid 80's too! It sits by my den window for shooting squirrels out of the bird feeders, and chipmunks in the summer that eat my wife's tulip bulbs. Very accurate and fast. I have clocked pellets at 1250 FPS on my chronograph. My only complaint is that it can be quite loud. I can shoot the sub sonic .22 rimfires out of a rifle that make less noise than the RWS 45.

Mine sits by the door and pulls the same duty. Eradicated 27 chipmunks and a few red squirrels last year. Wife was at war with them!

I have 1 of the commemorative models from 1986. They put these out when they finely ended production of the rws #45's. I've looked at other pellet guns but keep wondering why. That .177 model 45 does everything I ask of it.

I use mine to keep the squirrels from my bird feeders..............Very accurate, even with open sights.

Except for the butt pad being chewed up a bit she’s in great shape. A buddy of mine owned a hardware back in the day and dabbled in guns a bit. One day he tells me you have to try this pellet gun I just got. So we went back to his office and when I saw it I told him I had Czech built rifles just like that when I was a kid. He said you better try this one. His office butted up to the Kalamazoo River and was probably about 300 feet or so across. We opened the window and I took a bead on the other side of the river thinking I’ll see how far she shoots. Well when I touched it off imagine what I thought when it hit the other side! Well I shot one more in the river and when I saw how hard it hit I bought it then and there:)

Speaking of the Czech rifle. We had a sporting goods store in the town I grew up in. In those days you knew everyone in town. Well the old gentlemen that owned the store would let us kids prove we were responsible enough to make payments on things we wanted. He would allow you to make a small down payment ,take the item and come back once a week and give him whatever you could. I bought a lot of stuff like that from him. Those were good times. Getting back to the rifle. It didn’t have as much power as my buddy’s Crosman 760 but it was more accurate! Paid 15 bucks for it brand new if memory serves:)

I had that gun. Never really liked it though, the barrel was too long. I remember it was also offered with a shorter barrel as a carbine.

I’d like to find a peep sight for it. Probably and original RWS one would be tough to find but if someone knows of a decent sight that would work with the globe front sight that is on it I’d appreciate a heads up

Redfield made a peep sight that clamped to the dovetail. I had one on my rifle for awhile, the I mounted a scope. You can still find those old Redfield peeps on ebay and gunbrokers. the say they are for clamping onto the dovetail receivers of a .22, but they work on the air rifle too.

I think I read a thread in here that said the dovetail mounted Williams etc would not get high enough to zero on these break barrel rifles. Maybe I’ll see if I can find one and give it go. Thanks

Shot the 45 a little in the basement yesterday. 10 meters off hand with the stock post and notch sights. Nothing special but pretty good for me. I ordered a Williams Peep for it yesterday. I’m betting I’ll be able to see them much better and with a little practice I think I can tighten the group up a bit. The old rifle is capable for sure!

I have two RWS 45's, both in .177, one is open sighted and the other is scoped.

Over the years I've shot a lot of pest with scoped one...

I've got a 45 in .177 that I bought off a friend about 20 something years ago. Not shot it recently though. It has a Beeman 4X scope mounted.

Just bought a CZ S200 PCP for shooting indoor silhouette matches.
