S&W 14-4 (trash or treasure $980)

I'd feel a lot better about it at $750-800ish.

Target Hammer and Trigger are a plus, but those are not the original Target grips, a Dash-4 wouldn't have diamonds.

On the other hand.....diamond K-Frame Target grips are worth $50-100 more than non-diamonds. So, theres that.

Considering the sideplate screws, Id guess the gun has had at least a trigger job, and perhaps the hammer and trigger swapped as well.

I paid $750 for mine 2 years ago, but without any of the Target goodies.
Lots of thinking to do. Not sure if it’s the photo or a digital artifact, but I do examine the screw heads as apart of my normal revolver check. I don’t recall the head being buggered up. I can take closer photos next time. Headed to there range Friday

Always Wanted a K38 Masterpiece! just because the name is so Special, like “Mountain Gun” or “Registered Magnum” or “Combat Magnum”

But dry firing that K38 is person was an Experience! I think I’m not going to let this pass up! What a Special Gun!
Then you better pony up that cheque book mate, before it gets away.

Too Many guns is a Luxury ! Life Goals
At least it's cheaper than collecting '68 and '69 J Code Roadrunners

Get on it champoon

Finding a better one for cheaper wouldn’t be easy but it’s not a screaming hot deal either.

I’d offer $850 if you really want it and see what they say. If they don’t budge come back a couple weeks later and see if it’s still around.

way too high. I had to stop myself from bidding on this because I'm tapped out. Again.
If I didn't already have one I would have.

If you want a 14-4, here is what looks like a nice one. Maybe not quiet as nice but for a much better price.

Seen a Brand NewUnfired K38 for around $1100 online, but I have a problem buying used guns online. I just have to touch and look in person. I know most you folks have not had an issue with Used Online. I just don’t trust it

I wouldn't have anywhere near the collection I do if I had to wait for guns to trickle into the few local shops, then I'd have to pay their ridiculous prices.

Speaking of 14-4's...you need one.
Yes you do.

Love the Model 14. But with my admitted limitations
as a shooter, I find the Combat Masterpiece/Model 15
the better choice, especially with the same three "Ts."

Generally the Model 14 commands a lesser premium
price when pristine compared to the Model 15. Or
so I've found.

I’m in the club of too expensive.
I just three weeks ago picked up a S&W Model 15 in similar condition for $405 off of GB. Total after taxes, shipping, and transfer was under $500.
It’s a SHOOTER!
Haven’t had it out but twice, but on second trip, I shot a “clean” 12rds in 20sec at 15yds. 158gr SWC over 3.6gr of HP38. Duplicates the 755fps service load.

If the M14 had ORIGINAL box and paper work, the it might be worth the price.
If you are happy, then it was a good deal!
I’m happy with my M15! No box, just a cheap plastic holster…

A single data point, I bought an 8-3/8" Model 14-3 for $725 back in 2017. The gun shoots well but the bluing has some rough spots in it.

I’m going to buy this gun because I have never seen it in the Wild. Of All the crazy Revolvers I’ve seen in the Seattle Area, never a 14 dash anything (strange). Yes… I will pay too much NOW, but I need to load up some Speer 148 SWC and see what it can do!

I have a Perfect Colt .38 Target gun .. Let’s See how it’s Perfect Smith Counter part Compares… Range Report SOON

I love my three Model 14-3’s. Fantastic guns, all.

5”, 6” and 8 3/8 Model 14’s shown here with the Colt Officers Model Heavy Barrel .38 Spl. from the 1930’s.

IMHO, there is nothing I find more fun and relaxing than shooting finely made, accurate .38 Special revolvers.

Buy it, thats a nice specimen.

Stay safe.
