I don't know if this is the best place to ask this or not, but here goes.

I have a S&W model 411. That's a .40 cal similar to the 4006 and uses the same magazines.

I have four 11-round magazines. The gun is very reliable except with one magazine and when this particular magazine is inserted, I can usually fire a few rounds and then it is as if the magazine safety engages and the trigger is no longer effective. It just pulls all the way back like the safety is on.

Some time back I called S&W and the guy sent me a new follower which I replaced and no change. Didn't really expect one. I've compared this magazine closely with the other three, I cannot determine any difference, length, height, width, placement of holes, top opening dimensions, etc.

What to do? Any body familiar with this? I'm thinking about ignoring the recommendations against disabling the magazine safety, as this is apparently a cause of failure. Being able to fire without a magazine inserted hasn't really been much of problem after decades with a 1911.

Thanks!

Honestly, my first thought is that I would just get rid of it. Mags are too important in the entire scheme of things...
By the way...is it a factory mag? How is the spring? :scrutiny:

Yeah, I know what you're saying and I thought about that.

A little more info. This is an 11-round and I live in California which only permits 10-round mags. This one is grandfathered in because it predates the brilliant 10-round magazine law.

And, yes, I know there's only a difference of 1 round, but it's just the prinicple of the thing. It's my way of snubbing California.

But it's more than that. I cannot tell any difference between this magazine and the others, and I'm worred that it might spread if I don't figure out what's causing it. The 411 is an excellent shooter and I want to keep it that way.

Hope that makes sense. Oh, and, yes, it is a factory mag.
