I went to my LGS today and fondled a new 586....big mistake! It is real purty! And now I HAVE to have one!

The 586 is a great gun. Don't think we will talk you out of it.

I have seen one today. The bluing and polishing was superb. I would say it's among the best .357 revolvers ever made.

If it was me I'd keep visiting gun shops until I found a used 586...one without the infernal IL. That's just me, YMMV!

+1 here! To warn you though, they don`t seem to be too common on the used racks. This is the first one I can remember seeing, so I snapped it up. The 686s are far and away more popular. (Oh, those are Ahrends tactical stocks in maple. Those did not come on it.)
