The one you posted probably will not be a good investment. There are too many nicks and dings on it. And why anyone would mar a gun like that is beyond me. I've always disliked Smith's leaving the slides with a sandblasted finish. It's impossible to buff out and you really need to polish it; and if you don't have the equipment, it's a real pain.
I have a photographer friend who bought a beautiful new Olympus SLR back in the 70s. The first thing the guy did was take a nail and then he proceeded to deface the camera. When I asked him why he'd do such a horrible thing, he said, "I'm a professional photographer. These are my tools and I don't care what they look like. If I deface my equipment, I don't need to worry about having it stolen. It works perfectly and no one wants it." He had lost some nice camera equipment in Italy, where they steal anything of value that's not completely secured.
I could see his reasoning, but guns last many years and are rarely used for what they were purchased for. This gun is most likely a great shooter. It's not like having an old German Luger, which jams every other round and is a collector's item at best...something you take out of a safe and show someone and then put back in.
If you want to shoot this gun or use it for a drawer gun, this gun will do the job. But it's most likely a crummy investment.
