Looking at a 3" 13 anyone have hands on experience some call them the ultimate concealed gun I guess because of the combat sights and round butt with full length ejector. This one is in excellent condition no box or docs but seems a little pricey at $450.00 + Tax and BGC but I know the older smiths are just going up in price. How do you like the fixed sights and overall impressions of the gun. this is the first one I have ever ran across locally. This is a dash 3 not P&R

Really hard to beat for a carry gun. They balance very well in the hand. sounds like you already have heard all that stuff. I have owned one, and it was a fine weapon, just found something else I wanted more.

Yes, jump on it. The ones with round butt are especially appealing. All you need to do is replace wooden panels with set of used Uncle Mike's K-Frame rubber ones.

Well I pulled the trigger so to speak and got the 13-3 kind of wish it was P&R but may not see another 3" for a while. hasn't been shot much or carried can't wait to shoot it.

That's wonderful gun you bought for $450. It will be perfect with Uncle Mikes 'Boot grips' which are sadly no longer made. While valuable at time of purchase or sale original S&W wooden grips are next to useless.

Mine is also a 13-3, 3" RB. I paid $489 for it a couple of months ago, and I couldn't be happier with it.

Unless I'd paid a few bucks less... but that's just money. I think that it really is about as good a concealment revolver as you can get, barring the 642 of course. The fixed sights are a bit coarse if you expected target/hunting sights, but they work just fine out to 50 yards. I lurv it.

I paid $300 for mine a while ago. I kept the Magnas and got a Tyler T grip adapter. Best gun I have for shooting and carrying.
I don't like rubber grips for carry, my over shirt tends to ride up.

Good choice. If you want to change out the grips look for a Pachmeyr compact professional for the gun or an Uncle Mikes boot grips. If you are willing to spend a bit more for a good boot grips there are plenty of nice wooden boot grips made by Hogue, and Eagle. If you want a fancy set of stag grips contact Grasshorn grips. He does an amazing job.

Also Bianchi makes an excellent leather IWB for that gun.

You will love it. I had one in nickel, swapped it off for something, thinking I would get another, never have. The fixed sights will probably shoot to point of aim,@ 25yds, with 158grain mag loads. Smith 38s and 357s fixed sight models are regulated to 158s.

I have a 3" M13 and have to admit it's one of my favorites. Just a real good combination of weight, size, and sight radius.

I was actually issued one in the 70s by Uncle Sugar. Even tho I worshipped at the Colt Combat Commander altar, the State religion was a Model 13, by Gawd! I too found it a likeable beast. I polished it up inside slightly and it was almost as good as the old 2.5" Model 19 I no longer was issued. The model 13 comes out fast, the full length ejector rod completely dumps .357 cases (unlike the model 2.5" model 19!) and the semi bull 3" barrel magnifies the .357 goodness.
Somewhere near Salinas I let er slip away.....................................

I've compared a stock 2.5" and a 4" Python, and a slicked up 4" M 19 to a stock 3" M13. This wasn't a one time, first blush comparison. It went on for a while.

Maybe its the RB frame, combined with service grip panels and the Tyler adapter, but the M 13 is not only the best at DA shooting, it is the best pointing of the 4 that i have owned and tried.

I bought one for me and liked it well enough to buy one for each kiddo.

I just took top gun out of 24 shooters in a CLEET qualification with my 3 inch S&W 13-3 with two perfect scores the second day. Everyone else was using semiautomatics - Glock 17s, Glock 19s, Glock 23s, S&W M&P 9mms, Springfield XD-9s, and a Beretta 8000. I used an old Bucheimer pancake holster. The other shooters were somewhat nonplussed.
