i am thinking of getting the M&P Sub Compact 9mm 2.0 . I have a great price to get it at $380. It's just like the G26 in function and size . The only thing I can think of that id different is the striker safety plunger is held in place by the rear sight and the striker is fully cocked when the gun is ready to fire.
Any thoughts ? Pros and Cons ?

Love M&P 2.0 models. The only thing I do when I obtain an M&P (any M&P model for that matter) is put an APEX trigger on it.

No issues with the 2.0 in terms of performance, but the older model triggers weren't all that great. I've since gotten so used to changing out the triggers that I almost do it by default. I do have a 2.0 with the original trigger. While I have no issues when shooting it, I've gotten used to the APEX triggers. The only reason I haven't changed it is because the 2.0 triggers, even though they are hinged, are smoother than previous M&P models. It's still not as comfortable as an APEX trigger. I have seen that they changed out the trigger on their Shield Plus and CSX models. Hoping it is a sign of things to come.

As for your question. I'd say pull the trigger ;-)

I’ve had a 9 subcompact for almost a year, sold my compact after I bought it.

I prefer the shorter barrel for CC and thanks to S&W mag spacers I don’t sacrifice capacity.

About your concerns with striker block, I changed out the rear sight on a M&P FS and it’s a bit tricky but not bad.

I used a sight pusher and the rear sight goes off left.to right, I captured the disk and spring with a small screwdriver to keep it from popping out.

What's the question??:)

If you like it buy it!
As for the sear spring, what's the issue?. If you put a new trigger or sights in, then yes the rear sight needs to come off the replace the spring. But that spring really doesn't change the trigger pull very much

Some are able to get the sights off. Other not so much, Need a pusher or a Gunsmith,

If you like it, buy it! I would buy an apex trigger for it as well, just personal preference. I carry a full size m&p, and used to carry a shield, both with Apex triggers.

The S&W M&P series is my go-to, I have three and carry them all the time! Reliable, and ergonomic.

Me too. I have a M&P Shield in 9mm, and just picked up a M&P Bodyguard in .380 ACP. I'm actually considering trading/selling my Glock 19 for a compact or full-sized M&P and just train/stick with the M&P platform.

My Shield has been 100% flawless, zero failures.

I bought my Shield 1.0 while I still had a Gen 4 G19. It didn't take long for the Shield send the G19 into forced retirement. I eventually sold the G19. Actually, I sold the 1.0, too, but that was after I got my Shield Plus.

Yeah, I only really use the G19 for some target practice, to train on a fuller sized gun, and I used it for a Handgun III course. But, I never carry it. It works just fine, and has only had one failure, but I can't say I truly love the gun. I actually like like S&W M&P handguns. What can I say, I'm a S&W guy not Glock.

I have a 1.0 that is that size (3.6 inch barrel, 12 round mag), but they called it a compact back then. I have been carrying it for about 10 years and the only changes I've made have been talon grip tape and night sights. The 2.0 supposedly has much better texture to it so I'd guess its good to go right out of the box.

It definitely does, I bought a 2.0 backstrap off eBay to put on my 1.0

I had the old M&P compact model for years and the gun is great. However, I might pony up the extra $50 or so for a Shield Plus with 13 rounds in the extended magazine.

I love'm, the originals and the 2.0s, and have a few (only because I originally bought one extra for the wife and the other two of the 2.0s came in $699.00 PSA packages that included ARs in the pre-pandemic days) .... but I'm all-in on the Plus these days.

S&W hit such a homerun with the platform. And now that affordable drop-in triggers groups are available - for the older versions - the platform is going to he around for a long long time. Every major manufacturer since has been trying to copy it or keep up with it. And honestly it's nosomuch about the platform, the reliability and accuracy and ergonomics (although all of that is what's most important imho) ... it's about the affordability as well. They're affordable enough to own a couple or a few. Have one in the glovebox, another hidden by an egress-ingress door in your home and so on.

89 Tercel ... anyone who still owns one of those (great little cars) is going to-be genetically predisposed to immediately fall in love with a 2.0. Both were/are economical/ergonomic masterpieces.

I've had one for a number of years and it's been fantastic. In addition to all the positives mentioned it's among the most versatile guns I own. I can use a 12 round magazine that's flush with the bottom of the grip if I need something especially concealable, a 12 round magazine with a pinky extension plus 15 and 17 round magazines which put it on par with a full size gun. The ergonomics are fantastic and it's never malfunctioned in any way. OP, if you haven't bought it yet you should.
