I missed last time but just ordered the round butt 4" heavy barrel. They also have the the 3" version. Based on the good reports last time of nice shooters - here's hoping I get lucky. This will be my second revolver, now to wait and see what I get :D

You are a terrible, terrible man. The only reason you haven't cost me money is because I'm about to buy a reloading press. Shameful.

:D

Yeah, well...

I wasn't planning on spending $269.00 tonight either - and had to explain the emailed receipt to my wife tonight ;). Honestly these have been a fair deal I avoided and after seeing the HKGun thread...I wanted one to send off to S&W for refinishing. If it is too nice for that - will keep it as is and look for another.

I just now checked their site. They don't show any 3", only 4". I'm gonna call tomorrow and ask for a 3". If they don't have it I will order another 4 RB.

Why did somebody have to post this?! :cuss:

My local FFL is going to kill me due to the order I just placed...

Howsabout a 3" Model 10 for each hand?

-Jake

I always want to get one of these, but I'm too lazy to renew my license and deal with the ffl stuff just for a spare 38...

I bought one of the 3 inchers last night. I didn't hesitate and it's on it's way to me now. Guess I did the right thing, because I don't see anymore of the 3" models listed at Bud's. AND, they've jacked up the price 10 bucks on the 4" models since just last night.

I own several S&W classic revolvers, but no K frames in 3". I'll let you know how good it is when it arrives.

I was surprised because I ordered mine on line about this time last night (late), yet they were still able to ship it out today. That hasn't with me at Bud's for a long time. Maybe things ARE returning to normal.

Indeed, for everything but ammo.

I ordered mine at Noon EST and the website says that they have been shipped to my FFL.

I got the update that mine had made it it to shipping as well.

Hey flyingscot, a big thanks to you for posting up about these being available - I missed out on the last round of 3" police trade-ins and regretted it. If I hadn't seen this thread I would have missed out again, so I appreciate it.

Those 3" guns are very appealing.

Can the Model 10 stand a steady diet of +p ammo? As that's pretty much the only .38 I shoot or keep on hand.

These are very nice , super smooth triggers. Classic revolvers of its day.

Manny, affirmative on the +P ammo. My understanding is that you can shoot nothing but +P in the model 10 without ill effects.

A local FFL here in Lewisville often has the same guns pop up for $200; they are trade ins from the local security companies. Definitely good buys at either price.

I've never bought a gun from Bud's....what exactly is the process? Call and say what you want, give a CC#, have shipped to a local FFL?

Rondog, pretty much. You can call and they'll take your information, or you can do it online. I did mine online, in the checkout process it will give you a list of FFLs it has on file near the zip code you put in, so you can either select one of those or email a copy of your FFL.

Buds charges 3% on credit cards, so if you want the cash discount you can either do an electronic check or send one in through snail mail. However, the fine print doesn't reserve you a used gun, basically they can sell whatever they've got till your funds come in, which n a deal like the 3" K frames, they're so popular I don't think they'd last long enough to get the check to them.

Once you pay and select or send an FFL, you wait for them to process and ship it. It's is what most people complain about, as it can take a while for them to do it. A week sometimes, sometimes more. So you wait...

rondog:

Bud's may be busier than normal in this political climate. But normally, an in stock item ships within a couple days. If you pay by check/electronic check, it takes at least a week to ship because your check has to clear.

Bud's doesn't need your CC#, FOID, Pistol Permit, etc. That's where the FFL you choose comes in. The FFL handles the actual transfer to you, the buyer, as well as any other government mandated requirements.

Be careful though, once you start buying online, (and shipping to an FFL), you're hooked.
