:banghead:I am hoping someone can help me to identify the gun in the attached photos. I have found a series of hash marks on the interior butt frame, hammer, receiver, and the grip retaining screw ( /// llll ) which I assume to represent the number thirty four since 34 is stamped in the cylinder and the butt frame. Also 34 is marked on the interior of the butt scales in what appears to be pencil. It appears to be a S&W Model 2 but I am getting many people who say it is a S&W and many who say it is not. Either way, can someone tell me what it is , an approx. age, and an approx. value? Please help.

KTMarsh, These pictures are a great help, but 1 more from the left side would give us a view of the side plate, and help a great deal in determining the correct model. As the first 2 or 3 versions had different shapes.

The "ELG on star in an oval" on the cylinder is a Belgian Liege Proofhouse mark. If it doesn't have any barrel markings or patents it may be a patent infringement Belgian copy of the S&W Model 2 made in the 1860's or 1870's, the manufacturers of which are not well documented. The Liege proofmark indicates it probably passed a rigorous test and ought to be safe for the BP .32 rimfire ammo of the day. (Assuming it's a .32 rimfire)

No idea how much that one would sell for as it's niche market for oddball rimfires. Original S&W Model 2's go for $200-400 in poor to good condition, a copycat probably less.

Like RugerMcMarlin said, needs more pictures. Side plate, screws, stampings.

Nice looking piece. I like old Belgian and Spanish revolvers.

It is most assuredly not a S&W.

As already noted, the Belgian proof marks make it a counterfeit copy.
