Just spotted this article. This is no good :( I hope you guys are buying stuff outside of the city. Seems like a clever way to register all gun owners indirectly, seeing as people who purchase ammunition probably have a gun.

The Sacramento City Council voted Thursday to pass two new laws targeting the continued threat of gun violence in the city.

Some opponents are calling these proposals a waste of taxpayer dollars and a clear infringement on their Constitutional rights.

Sacramento police officers said these laws would aid in investigating gun crimes after they happen.

However, one gun dealer told KCRA 3 that with all of the laws already on the books, taxpayer money could be better spent putting more officers on the street trying to prevent crime than reacting to it.

One ordinance would give gun owners 48 hours to report a lost or stolen firearm or be charged with a misdemeanor. An accompanying ordinance would require firearms dealers to thumb-print and electronically report the names and addresses of those who buy ammunition.
