Please discuss the idea of using a Saiga 12ga as a multi purpose Alaskan survival gun.

I'm thinking along the lines of situations such as: Your bush plane went down but the radio is busted, or your ATV died 70 miles from the highway, or you inadvertently stumble too close to a sow grizz with 3 cubs and now she wants to rip your head off.

Here's how I see it:

Pros:
1. Reliable & durable
2. Can have mags loaded up with several ammo types for different situations (E.g. one mag of slugs for big game, a mag of 00 buck to fend off the wolves, a mag of #8 for grouse and ptarmigan, a mag with flares, etc)
3. Easy to change mags quickly (so when you're hunting grouse for food and you PO ma grizz you can slap in that mag 'o 3" magnum slugs and be ready for business, rather than pissing her off even more by shooting her with the birdshot and fumbling around trying to load a tube while she gnaws on your head).
4. Powerful

Cons:
1. Heavy
2. Short effective range on big game (50 yards? 100?)
