WOW!

I got a Savage 10FP in .308 a couple weeks ago, and ordered a Super Sniper 10x42 scope, Leupold bases and rings (get the high ones, the medium don't work), and put the Harris bipod from my M1A on that extra sling swivel. I figured it would be more accurate than the M1A, but I can't believe how much more.

I shoot Portugese surplus 7.62x51mm in my M1A all the time, and figured if the 10FP can't shoot it as well, I don't need the boltie. So, first "finding paper" string was Port surplus. Took a half dozen to figure out high-low-left-right. 16 clicks up, crank the windage screws on the bases left, bang, about 6 inches right of bullseye. Sweet!

Put 4 more of Port in, click left 4, fire. 10 ring. Get outta here, I says.

Fire again, X ring, fire again, X ring, fire again, right X ring. Get OUTTA HERE, I says again. :what:

Pulled out the $24(!?!?!?) box of Federal Gold Medal Match .308. Loaded four, fired four, same point of aim. Left to right string a couple inches long, 4 inches south of X. Yuck, says I. :barf:

Spent remaining 2 boxes (forty rounds) of Port surplus making one big hole in the X ring. About 30 rounds in, started getting heat waves in the scope picture (about 40 degrees out), but still amazing accuracy.

In conclusion, if you've been wondering (as I was) if the stories about the Accutrigger and the Savage 10s are true, I will gladly testify that they are. I will also testify that the Super Sniper scopes are an excellent buy (I never have used scopes on anything other than a .22, but this one makes it all seem rather boring...put the crosshairs where you want the bullethole, and poof, it's magic!).

Just thought I'd share a great day at the range with a great rifle!

I have the same setup, but without the Accutrigger (older 10FP). Very happy with it.

Ditto

I have a pre-accutrigger 10FP in .308 with a Burris 3X-10X scope and Harris Bi-Pod and like you I am amazed at the accuracy.

I recently shot some groups of South African Surplus and was getting an inch to half inch groups with it once I adjusted my POA. I have mine sighted in for 168 grain stuff and find that it shoots really really well with Black Hills 168 Grain match. My best group ever was a five shot group in the neighborhood of say .4 of an inch or so. It was basically five rounds going through the same couple holes just cutting the edges a little more. That was all the gun and a lot of luck as I cannot normally shoot that well. I don't have the skill to do so.

I picked one up at last Saturday's HGCA show at Reliant Center for $550. Older model without the accutrigger, but came with Harris bipod, Leupold bases and a mounted Bushnell 10x40 Elite 3200 mil-dot scope. Seemed a great deal, looks pretty close to new.

I've only heard good things about these in terms of bang for the buck.

Haven't shot it yet, I'm too much of a wimp to sit outdoors in 40 degree temperatures :)

Had a Harris bipod (the shorty one) on mine, but took it off. The stock is just to "springy" for a bipod IMO.
