So I'm looking to trade my 7mm & I'm doing some due diligence checking out an area gunship. They have a new Savage 12FV in .308, on the gun rack behind the counter. (I forgot to read the model, but it was a darkly blued/ black, heavy barrel .308 with only 1 front swivel, so its not a 10FP-LE.)

It must be last year's model because that rifle is not listed on Savage's webpage.

It comes with the Tasco varmint scope (3.5-12 or so). I'm not crazy about the scope, but:
A) does anyone have experience with these rifles? I googled Savage 12FV and read some decent good reviews & opinions.
B) What would be a fair price for the rifle/scope combo?

If I can pick up the rifle at a good price, I might go ahead and buy a Vortex scope for it, which this particular shop also has in stock.

Scope isn't worth anything unless it's an older Japanese tasco and even then it's not worth that much.

I just sold my FVSS in .223 for $500 with scope base, rings, and some handloads/brass.

Savage 12s are great. For the right price, I would jump on it. I would say $500ish

Offer 550?

They're asking for $550 actually. I just need to get rid of my Ruger to get the cash...

I don't think that Tasco scope is worth much either, so I'd probably pick up a vortex diamondback and swap it out. Maybe they'll give me a discount if I buy both since they're under a new owner.
