I am looking for a left hand 22 bolt rifle for my grandson. Any opinions on this model. It has the synthetic stock and doesn't have the varmint(bull) barrel. It fits the price range I'm looking to spend. Thanks in advance.

All the Savage 22 bolt guns that I've seen were great shooters and the owners seemed happy with them. Back in 2017 I almost bought one brand new, but I wound up with a new CZ-455 because they are also great shooters and I gave up trying to talk my buddy into selling me his CZ-452. The CZ stuff is higher priced but IMHO the Savage rimfire rifles are great buys in that price range. The CZ-457 series 22 rifles have a left hand model according to their web site but it's in the upper 500 dollar range. I'm unaware of other 22 bolt gun offerings from other manufacturers.

It looks like CZ brought back the left handed 22lr rifles again. Yes they were discontinued for a short time.

While I don't have experience with the Savage B22 and it's rotary magazine, All of the Savage MkII rifles shoot great for me. Don't forget to look at the Savage MkII GL, FL, or BTVLSS

G = wood stock
F = synthetic stock
B = Boyds laminate stock
L = left hand
V = varmint barrel (medium heavy barrel)

The MkII G and MkII F along with the B22 F are available in left hand with the sporter barrel while the BTVLSS is the only left hand MkII available with the varmint barrel as far as magazine fed rifles are concerned.
