Aftermarket stocks available for Savage

There are several choices out there for Savage. Choate offers a sniper and a varminter. Bell & Carlson offers the Duramaxx and the Medalist.

For the money ($100.00) the Duramaxx is an excellent no brainer up grade, stiff (great for bi-pod), thick, plenty of room in barrel channel.

The according to Savage's website, my rifle is "111FXP3", yet on the barrel is says "Savage Model 110".

Whats up with that? Is there a difference between 110 and 111?

Greetings, fellow Fort Worth resident!

I have a couple of Savage rifles, and I'm damned if I can tell the difference in the numbering. I thought maybe it was because of iron sights vs. no sights, but that's not it; some detailing in the stocks, but I don't see any.

I chalk it up to "The triumph of marketing over engineering."

Thanks, good to see other FW folks around there.

Yeah, knowing the exact model number has never been an issue for me, I just found it to be a curious discrepancy.

Kelly, We all have our opinions ( Me included ) but If you listen to the consensus of the folks on this forum I don't think you can go very far off the mark. Good Luck. Essex

Savage rifles from what I kn ow are numbered this way:

model 10 = short action, wood stock
model 110 = long action, wood stock
Model 11 = short action, synthetic stock
Model 111 = long action, synthetic stock

Martin, the letters after the numbers are what determinse the stock,

F= Synthetic Stock
G= Wood
V= Heavy Barrel
SS= Stainless Steel
X= package gun

And there are more I just dont remeber them off the top of my head.
