Ok, I'm looking to get a .223 target/coyote gun and I'm looking at the : http://www.savagearms.com/16fhss.htm . Does anyone own this gun or have any opinions on it. Also, does anyone know how well it will do target shooting and barrel heat. I am pretty set on getting a savage, if anyone has any other savage models I'm open to suggestions. I think im kind of stuck on the weather warrior because i really like its light weight. Thanks in advance.

I have Savage sporter in .223, it is blue not stainless, but will shoot under MOA. Plenty good enough for coyotes.

thanks for the reply eliphalet, i'll have to see if anywhere has one of those i can look at...by the specs on savagearms.com, it is also very light.

I have a couple of Savage/Stevens 223s, and they shoot great. My daughter won a 12FV as part of a youth trip from the VHA, and the pics those guys sent after they scoped it (we haven't done her PD hunt yet), were way under an inch.

The big drawback to the Model 25 is that it costs as much as a Model 12, weighs the same, and can't be rebarreled at home.
