SBR Engraving and Abbreviation

Manufactures have long been allowed to abreviate but Form 1s are not being approved with any abreviation other than State. You must use the exact trust name as it appears on your trust. Unless you plan ahead, this may require spelling out "Revokable Living Trust". My trust says "This Revokable Living Trust shall be known as the XXXXXXXXX RLT" allowing me to use RLT (7 times so far on Form 1s and 5 times on on Form 4s).

Or you could really plan ahead not not use "trust" in the trust name. My trust is "XX Arsenal" (where XX represents two meaningless initials, not even my own).

That's all I have engraved. XX Arsenal City, ST

I spoke to the NFA branch directly on the phone.
They said the ONLY thing you can abbreviate is the state. It must be the two letter abbreviation.

You CANNOT abbreviate revocable Living trust into RLT or living trust into LT as some on other forums said I could or said they did.

This is what my Brother was told recently about the SBR he is currently building.

It appears that a lot has changed since I did mine on a Form 1 in '08.

Like I said, If that is incorrect by todays standards, it is what it is.

Wait just a second! Are you implying that the ATF arbitrarily changes their mind about there own rules and procedures :D

Gosh, Mike, I hope it doesn't say "Revokable."

I still like my Trust name, which in "In God We"

and the engraving then reads "In God We Trust"

Works for me!

Once again, selecting a sensible trust name is important.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but from what I understand if your trust was named "In God We", the engraving would be "In God We". To engrave "In God We Trust", the trust would have to be named "In God We Trust".

^ Advice from an attorney specializing in such things in Wisconsin says otherwise.

Truly: Nobody but nobodty is enforcing the "rules" in any event. You pays yer money and you takes yer chances, I guess.

I thought about it and If I'm right that trust isn't part if your trust name, what says you can't engrave extra words?

Anyway, good that it works for you. Cool thing to have engraved.
