Considering the fact that Schrade closed it's doors a year ago, I went today to buy, a knife that has caught my fancy for quite some time.
Lo and behold , the "Old Timer "of my selection was made in China(model#1940t).
My other purchase was a 770T Muskrat which is in fact U.S.A. made.
The muskrat will sharpen nicely but the #1940t will take some work as the quality is not there.
My "store" has quite a few Schrades left which is surprising considering the facts.
Maybe it's because the serious collectors are fully aware of the China connection.
Respectfully, Zeke

The "China connection" is not the Schrade you remember. When Taylor Cutlery bought the rights to all the "intellectual property" in the Schrade bankrupcy they bought the designs and name(s). They then shifted production of the Old Timers to the PRK (no surprise since the NY production facility is no longer there)factories that produce their knives and knife components.

So, no collector will be looking at any of the new Taylor Cutlery Schrades produced in the PRK.
