I recently bought a decent chinese sks. Unlike most of these guns I've owned; this one is very accurate, and has a good trigger. I bought the UTG scope mount\ receiver cover and 1" stock extension. My problem is that all the sks type scopes I have seen/tried have had poor quality glass; and most quality scopes dont have enough eye relief, resulting in a sore eyebrow! Does anyone know of a decent shorter length scope with proper eye relief ? Thanks

The way that gun ejects is going to tear up any scope. the scope mount receiver you bought is going to have play and not hold a decent zero.

Scopes designed for shotguns work
well on the SKS, decent eye relief,
shorter than conventional scopes
and usually lighter. I use a Simmons
7791 D 1.5-5x20mm made in the Philippines.
I used a Weaver converta-mount but the
scope is in the same relative position.

If I were to scope an SKS, I think I would go the scout scope mount route and a nice 4x pistol scope. That being said, reinstall your stock dust cover and get a set of Tech Sights for your SKS. I have them on my SKS and I can hi clay birds at 120 yards. If you go with the tech sights buy the TS-200 since your norinco will need the elevation adjustment to see over your RSB. Here is the link for tech sights http://www.tech-sights.com/

That's been my experience, too.

No matter how tight a fit you start off with, the mount will work loose. A 2X pistol scope mounted foward works much better. I've had one mounted this way for a couple of years and had no change in POI.

Japle's SKS above sure is pretty, though I think it would be better looking still without the bayonet. What stock is that?

I bought my original Russian 1950 in 1995. Removed the bayonet and cleaning rod. Intalled a Tapco recoil pad . Went hunting and the stock got dinged up badly. 1999 i restained the stock and it looked nice. Bought a scope mount and scope and played the sniper conversion for a while. It became too heavy to log around. 2002 i put back the orignal parts (glad i still have them ) and was happy all along. These guns are meant to be shot as is with open sight and left like they were designed for.
