What's the best low priced scope? Would like a 3x9 or 2x7
Hate to want good and cheap but with my black powder hobby, fishing, and now air rifles my wife is gonna crap a brick if I make another large purchase any time soon.
By cheap I mean in the 50-60 dollar range.
Is it a springer or pneumatic?
Leapers & bsa sweet series. AO scopes are added $ compared to regular, but regarded as necessary by a lot of people. I included bsa sweet 17/22 because they have AO & the optics are ok. My dad has one on his 17hmr & with over 1000 magnum shots its given us no problem. Dont know if it is springer rated. Amazon had one, can't remember if it's the 22 or 17, for $50.
Leapers has a following...however the bug buster is way over 50 (70-90 if memory is correct) and some complain the reticle crosshairs are thick. They use the regular leapers. I've no experience myself, but have just completed a long search for a pcp. The hawke 3-9 AO is also $70 I believe.
I'm pretty sure both the hawk & leapers are spring gun rated but double check. Without AO, be sure the paralax is 50yrds & not 100. Not optimal, but if AO is out of the price range, we managed with the 50yrd for many years. Eye to scope alignment becomes much more critical.
The hawke is finicky @ 9×. The picture isn't really bright and eye position is ultra critical. Move a little forward or back & you lose the picture. Ex. = changing from offhand to bench. That slight difference will mean you see black or only part of the image. Still this is probably better than a non AO scope where changes in head to scope alignment will cause the crosshairs to float and you don't have that clue to let you know a problem exist before you shoot.
Hope someone with the leapers will chime in & tell him the pro's & con's of it.
