As I mentioned tangentially in another thread, I am going to buy some replacement scope rings for the cheap ones that I am currently using on my 452. I have a Leupold VX2 3-9X33. A friend of mine who has the same rifle and scope suggested Burris rings. I'd like to keep whatever I purchase under $100. Any thoughts?

I have experience with Warne, Talley, DNZ, Burris, Weaver and Leupold. Though I prefer Warne I believe quality wise the others are on par. A lot of people hate Leupold but I think they are fine.

I have Warne split rings on my cz 452. The weird thing was that either the dovetail is a little too narrow or one of the rings was a little too wide, so only one ring was really holding the scope onto the gun (the other could slide back and forth even when tightened). I wedged something thin into the loose connection, and now both are secure, but it's not what I expected when paying for decent rings.

Did you turn both side plates the same way? They are reversible so you can use the rings on two different sizes rails. Sounds like you need to flip the loose one 180 degrees.

Mine are the vertically split type, so there is no reversible side plate.

I have Burris, Weaver, Leupold, and Talley (both horizontal and vertical split). All work very well.

I'm using .22 specific (not split) Warne rings on my 455---so far so good--------------in my experience--split rings are a nightmare and will no longer ever consider buying them.

The clamping piece on the Warne rings have a dimple---one way for 3/8s inch rails-- flipped the other way for 11mm rails.

I just finished with work for the evening. I'll have a look at the responses tomorrow. Thank you to those who responded.

The best choice depends upon which 452 model you have, which scope you have, and how low you want to mount the scope. If you are going to use that relatively compact Leupold scope that you mentioned, I think the Burris Signature Zee rings would be a good way to go. They will protect your scope and you can get them in the height you need.

For CZs in general, if you have an iron-sighted 452 or 455, and you don't want the scope mounted way high, you'll need to pick a scope (not too large of an ocular bell) and rings that will allow the lower mounting. If you have an American or Varmint, you have more latitude with scope and ring choice while still keeping the scope low enough for a good cheek/jaw contact (assuming you like that type of fit).

Here's a big thread on the subject. I beleive there are several mentions of the Burris rings with the Leupold scope that you have. https://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=336921

Varmint with Weaver Grand Slam rings.

American with Tasco Australia rings (very good rings, but rare to find nowadays).

Lux (iron sighted gun) with Weaver Quad Lock rings which result in about the lowest possible setup for a hog-back CZ. This is is how I want my CZ hog-back guns scoped because it makes them fit me perfectly when scoped -- I don't like higher-mounted scopes where I don't get a good cheek/jaw contact with the stock.
