Hello -- I'm researching the process of scoping my Henry Big Boy.

In order to do so, first I need to buy their cantilever scope mount, which accepts Weaver type detachable 1" top mount rings.

What scopes / brands / sizes / styles should I be looking for? I want to spend no more than $150 on the scope (and am not looking for much magnification -- I do want a scope because my eyes are bad in general...have to squint anywhere past 50 feet).

Does it matter the type of rings I get, too? I saw there are different versions of apparently the same thing.

Any help / advice / point me in the right direction would be most helpful.

I might suggest a 1x-4x variable in Weaver rings.
1x will give you a wide open field of view for close range.
4x is plenty of power for the longest shots you will make with a pistol caliber lever-action.

Regardless of whether your Big Boy is a .357, or .44, the range is limited because of the rainbow trajectory of either pistol caliber.

Although slightly out of you stated price range, I might suggest:

You will be better served in the long run then buying a cheaper Chinese scope of dubious quality.
