Was surfing thru Armslist this weekend and ran across a Henry lever action 45-70 with a Vortex Crossfire II scope with only 10 rounds thru it for $850. Needless to say, I snatched it right up. Interesting enough, I can’t seem to find what series it is as it’s tube loaded with no side load feature. Anyone have an idea on what series it is?

No idea on the series although it is a good looking gun. It would make a good saddle gun with the right scabbard if you are into horse back hunting or just boonie traveling where you might run into some thing that is dangerous.

Depending on where you buy the scope it’s $200+. Subtract that from the gun and you picked it up for $650. Can’t remember the last time I saw a 45-70 Henry in pristine condition (let alone less) go for that kind of money.

You probably have an APB out on you for robbery.

Was too good to pass up. I picked up this Remlin (below the Henry) a couple of years ago for $600 used at a gun shop un Ashland Ohio. I thought I stole that one as well.

I have 2 remlin 45-70's (sbl & cb), but you did get a good deal for sure. Stag will be offering a 45-70 in the last quarter of this year, so it'll be interesting and s&w might offer 1 also.

Nice gun. The No Sidegate doesn't bother me at all. I had one of the Marlin 32 mags with no sidegate and for me it just wasn't an issue. I have a Henry 30-30 no sidegate on my GB watch list right now. The price is $775. Not bad for today. But add in taxes, shipping and transfer when it gets her plus all the fiddly gunbroker B.S. fees and I will most likely pass on it.

When you get a chance to shoot your new Henry pictures and a report would be appreciated.

^^^ Sadly I missed the train with these. A Marlin Cowboy in .32 H&R is at the top of the list of what I would consider a grail gun. They are going for absolute stupid money these days.

Waiting and hoping Marlin sees fit to bring ‘em back. Until then my Henry .32H&R is doing a decent job filling that niche.

The Henry is in 327 Federal isn't it? That would be Okay but I don't have any 327 stuff. I bought that Marlin 32 mag for a little over $600 and sold it about 3 years ago for $1500. To tell the truth I never liked the gun. The octagon barrel made it heavier than my 357 or 44 mag Marlins. And it wasn't overly accurate or I never found a load it shot as well as my 357 shoots. So I really didn't miss it. My bud and I both bought one at the same time. He still has his and I bet he hasn't shot it in the last 10 years.

Frankly I would give the Henry a try before I bought another Marlin. It was a pretty gun but just didn't light my fire. My uncle had one of the Marlins in 32-20 and when he died I tried to buy it from my aunt for full market value. Instead she sold all his guns for 0.25 cents on the dollar. And he had a LOT of guns including first gen Colt single actions. At least two in 32-20 that I know of. She told me she sold all his guns for $40,000. How stupid she was. She has no idea what she had. I offered to sell the ones I didn't want on GB for her and get her top dollar. I probably could have got her over $200,000 for his collection of guns.

And one more thing the Henry will feed 327 and 32 mag. I don't know about 32 long. The Marlin would not no matter what I tried feed 32 long. It was a waste of time trying.

Why can't I run across a 45-70 with a deal like that? That scope, BTW is not a $200 scope. Lists currently on Amazon for $129 and I've bought several within the last 6 months for $99. Try Joe-Bob's.

Why don't I ever come across these deals. I have side gate Henry's and almost exclusively use the tube.
