I offered to clean my boss's Sears Model 5 (Winchester 150 rebrand) and proceeded to disassemble it. When I removed the action, the recoil plate (original style) fell out. I'd never worked on a lever gun before so it took a while to figure out where it went. However, as soon as I reassembled the rifle I wasn't able to fully cycle the action. Seems that the recoil plate moved and prevented full movement. I cannot figure out how to reinstall the plate so that it won't move. For that matter, I don't understand why a lever gun would need a recoil plate. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
