seeking input on underhammer

I've been wanting to get into black powder squirrel hunting for a while now, but have been unable to find a suitable left-hand percussion rifle without spending BIIIG bucks. So, I started looking for a suitable underhammer. The selection of affordable .32 and .36 underhammer rifles seems to be very slim. I've found a rifle I may be inetersted in- it is a Hopkins & Allen product. I've never heard of them so I would like to know if anyone has had any experience with them. They list a rifle which I could probably be happy with (.36 cal, 32" bbl) in kit form for $240. Not bad IF it's a good shooter. So... any input concerning this or any other suitable brand of underhammer (or a lefty percussion) will be appreciated.

Oh, mine is a .32

I have had it for at least 20 years. I don't believe I ever fired it. I bought it used. It is in real decent shape.
I nomally never sell a gun. But I think that after I haven't shot this for 20 years, I might as well let it go.

The H@A guns I've seen are good shooters. The barrels looked like the ones Numrich used to sell, and I've built ten or 12 rifles with them, all good accurate guns. That .32 should do great with 00BK.

Numrich Arms used to make what they called a "Hopkins & Allen" muzzle loading rifle (and pistol too). They were very simple as the trigger guard was also the hammer or main spring. These rifles were very inexpensive, but shot like "a house afire." In fact at matches I often outshot others with far more expensive guns. The only drawback was the "unconventional" look, and the need to be sure the cap was firmly seated on the nipple.

They had a good "hang" to them. Just felt right. At the time I was competeing they just didn't have the look most people were after. It is an authentic 19th century idea, however, just no one ever showed one in the movies. I've thought about getting a .32 barrel and making myself a squirrel gun. Give it about 36 inches of 13/16 octagon,pretty little Siler flintlock, nice chunk of maple or walnut, good double sets, here I go again. Bag of buckshot and a horn of fffg and you could hunt from here to California. My Grandson has the family .36 now, we need another rifle.
