I had an interesting morning this morning. I took a batch of handguns out and shot them from a rest at 10 yards, just to compare them against each other. (ok, I have an 01 FFL and I collect and shoot all my guns also.)
My first hand gun(they were all hand guns) was a CZ Champion in 9mm. (all 9mm ammo was with 124 gr. FMJ bullets and either 4.2 gr.s of W231 or 4.4 gr.s of W231.) This ammo was loaded with a Dillon 550b.
The Champioin shot a 2" group and a 2 3/8" group.
The next pistol was an SP-01 in 9mm,(ok, they don't make it in .40 yet.) it shot a 1 1/2" group.
next was the CZ 85 combat that I have. It shot a 2" group
Next was the CZ 75B in .40. it shot a a 2 1/2 " grouip
Then was the CZ P-06 in .40. 4.5" group was the best It will do,(I was not impressed with this gun.)ANdone need a CZP-06????
These were a reshoot from acouple of days ago.
I read about the Zastava M-88A in the Dillon "blue book" and wanted to try it.
So I brought two of them.
From the same rest as the above guns the M-88A shot a 1" and a 1 1/2" groups and that's with a 3.5 in barrel. The only problem with the one I shot was the slide wouildn't go back into battery every time. Looks like it could us a new recoil spring. EAA are the inporters for the little reskles. I could learn to like them
The next pistol was the Bersa thunder 9mm full size. I got a 1 3/8 and a 3" group out of it. the 3" group was with a slightly different powder charge. 4.4 to 4.2 grains of W231
Then it was time for the CZ 75 BD(that's the one with the decvocker)
it shot a 2 inch group with 4.2 grains of W231 and a 1 1/4 inch group with 4.4 grains of W231.(that was my IDPA gun till a job got in my way of shooting IDPA.)
Then it was time for the Argentine High Power. I always like these guns and this proved it.
I got a 1" group and a 1 1/4 inch group.
Then was the CZ 40B, 180 gr. FMJ/with 4.9 grains of W231 and 180 lead bullets with 5.7 GR's of W231. Both shot 3" groups
I've got another CZ85 (not combat or "B" model) it shot groups of 1 7/8" and 1 3/8 groups( the smaller group was with 4.2 gr.'s of W231.
Then I pulled out a CZ 75B in nickle. it shot 1" group with 4.2 grs of W231 and a 1 3/4 inch group with 4.4 gr's of W231.( The CZ (9mm are very accurate shooters)
Then a sphinx in .40, 2" with 180 FMJ or 2" 180 lead.(.40 as per above.)
I ran out of sweat about then, (it's HOttt down here in Tx.)

This is a contenuation from the other day. MOre Semi-automatics, mostly 9mm.
I got a wild hair (ok, I got my blood pressure back were it's supposted to be.)
and this is the second installment of pistol accuracy, If any one is interested in the first installment, let me know and I'll try to resurract it.
Pat (all groups were 5 shots)(and all 9mm bullets were 124 gr. FMJ

I was wondering about the different pistols and their accuracy, And with my collection I throught I was do a little informal test.
This is all automatics in 9mm and a few in .40.
The ammo was reloaded on my Dillon 550B and the 9mm was mostly 4.4 grs of WW231(there were a few of 4.2 gr's of WW231.)
The forty was loaded with 180gr. FMJ and with 4.9 of WW231. There was some lead bullets with 180 lead an 5.7 gr.s of WW231. I'll note the differences.
all shooting was done off a rest at 10 yards. today it was clody and rainy. and fairly cool(88 degrees or so)
The first gun today was a FEG 9mm and it shot a 1 1/2inch group.
I picked up a Zastava M-88a and it shot a 1 1/2" group today, last Thursday it shot a 1" group and a 1 1/2" group. this particular pistol is not that dependable. it's quite accurate but the slide will not go home every time. When I got it and shot it the first time the slide wouldn't go home most of the time, now it's one out of five where I have to finished closing the slide. I cleaned it up and oiled it up good. it does work better. "O" this little gun has a 3.5 inch barrle.

The next gun today was a CZ75"D"(or PCR) has a 3.9 in barrel and it was the most accurate gun I seem to have. it shot a 1/2 inch group off the rest.(one hole)
that was the best one out of all my guns.
I found a 1994 CZ85 combat NIB at a good price. It shot a 1 1/4" and a 1" group (that's about as good as it gets)
I picked up a AT84S(ok, it's a swiss made CZ75) and it shot a 7/8 inch group. very nice shooting pistol.
next was a CZ P-01. 1 1/4inch group
Then was a reshoot of my CZ75 TS in .40 (1 1/8 inch group.
sll the above was shot with the 4.4 gr's of WW231. The next were shot with 4.2 grs of WW231.
the 85 combat shot a 5/8" group with this load.
The P-01 was still at 1 1/4 inch group.
and the AT84S did a 1 1/2 inch and a 2 1/2" group.
The CZ75 TS did a 1" group (.40 cal.)

IF you want a really accurate pistol, you need to look at CZ 75/85's in 9mm and the "D" model. My SP-01
is as accurate as any of them (1" groups)
I've got an argentine clone of the High power and it's as accurate as anything out there.(1" group at 10 yards.)
But these pale beside the revolvers. I have a S&W built off a model 28 frame into .44 special. we put it into a rasome rest and it shot a 1 1/2 group at fifty yards.(that was 35 years ago in Beaumont Tx.)
ANd a .41 mag smith will probilily do the same.
yes, I have them and may be I'll do them next.
If anyone wants to know what the other pistols were:
they were a Champion in 9mm; an SP-01 in 9mm; another CZ85combat 9mm; an CZ75B in .40 cal. and a brand new CZ p-06(its going back)
the Zastave M-88(first time)
a Bersa thunder 9 (in 9mm)
a CZ 75BD in 9mm
argentine HP in 9mm(its a keeper)
a CZ 75B in .40 cal. FAir, just fair.
there was another CZ85 (not combat)
a nickel CZ75B in 9mm (a real keeper)
and a .40 cal. sphinx.(I could do a couple of 9mm sphinxs if anyone was interested.)
