Awesome Shawn,

That shoot was a blast. If you want, tell Ben that Jason (with Roland) has a bunch more video that he took.

He even has video of us blowing up metal barrels at nighttime. Me shooting tannerite out of my truck :D

Can't wait for October!

Shawn, thanks for the link to those pictures. Also, please let Ben and John know I appreciate their generousity. I had a fantastic time.

BTW, I think you turned Richard, Kevin, and I into tannerite addicts :uhoh: :D .

As for the original purpose of this thread, this is as good a time as any to announce the next SGVGC shoot:

Next THR Shoot at SGVGC will be Sunday, June 11 at noon.

Same as always, just look for us. Most questions can be answered by looking at the very first post. Hope to see the usual suspects, as well as some new faces. BTW, where's Benny?

Anyone going to Rahaugees or to the OC fairgrounds gunshow this weekend? I will be at both Friday for the former and Saturday for the latter in the mornings. Not thay I can afford much, I have bought like 5 guns in the last few weeks.

And I'm not even sure if I can make it to the next SGVGC shoot:mad: Will try though and the last time was pretty fun.

I'll be at both, working :uhoh: - Friday and Sat PM at Raahauge's for SSA (Steel Madness!) at one of their two booths/berms, Sunday with the Costa Mesa NRA at the OC Gun Show.

Stop by and say Hi! :D

I'm going on an ammo run to the OC show on saturday. Not going to the shooting fair 'cause I'd rather have the gas and money for the gun show.

This was the first opprotunity I got to get back to this thread. Unfortunately I didn't get to run in to anyone. Fortunately I got some ok stuff at the show such as 50 round boxes of Winchester silvertip 38spl 110gr non plus p hollowpoints at $10 a box otd and get this Californians...

I located my dad a Kel Tec P32 in about 98% condition for $200! Unfortunately we have to go to San Diego county to get it.

Also for all you people that go to the shoots that remember I have strangely never fired a m1a before. Finally did so at Rahaugees as well as a S&W 500. I was complimented on my fine abilities on shooting an M1a( made me feel like the fat crazy guy in FUll Metal Jacket:))
Though as the targets were quite close it was no big deal.

remember I have strangely never fired a m1a before.

I sorta remember you mentioned that to me once before, but since I don't own one, I couldn't really offer to let you shoot what I don't own. . .

BTW, I shot a FAL for the first time yesterday (at Mike's 8" armor plate @ 100 yards). It was pretty cool except for the horrid trigger. The owner told me "This thing was made to rock'n roll; it's not for that precision stuff - for that, you use something else!"

BTW, Don't forget, Sunday June 11 at noon is the next shoot.

FAL triggers can be worked for better operation...

won't be there Sunday, this month's range trip is reserved for after my Camp Carbine arrives.

You think the FAL kicks hard??!!??
The gas system on mine tames the recoil quite nicely, and alot of first time shooters of a FAL notice immediately.
You should try a bolt action .308 hunting rifle with just the skinny wooden stock, that thing will separate your shoulder!

FALs and 308 bolts kick? Ask anyone at the shoots who has fired slugs out of my Winchester 1300 or Franchi 612 riot guns or fired my Chinese type 53 Mosin Nagant 7.62x54r carbines about kick!

Very good chance I will be making it. Will be bringing a bunch of 38spl revolvers as well as some 22lr chambered handguns. I also bought yet another Llama 380acp circa 1958 I need to mess with some more.

Have not decided what long guns I will be bringing if any. Probably at least a Ruger PC40 carbine though.

I think Floyd's FAL kicked cuz he had his gas system opened up. That thing was chucking brass like it was a Mini.

I'm sure most FAL's shoot softer, as my old FN49 shot 8mm, and recoil wasn't too bad.

Man, I'm wanting a FAL now....:uhoh:

....and a PTR-91....:uhoh: :uhoh:

Ok! Checking in again to the thread and ALOT has gone on in my absense.
stupid,stupid,stupid.....
Is there/has there been a june "angeles" shoot yet?

And, I need more practice before I even think of shooting IPSC or any of those...........

On a good note, I'm almost there to getting my long awaited (been saving)
for an SA 1911 milspec.....Probably get it at Retting, as the prices there are better than Turners...

I've got a 1300 and a Mosin M38 also, they definitely do kick the ish out of you. I went with a Knoxx stock on my 1300 though and it helps tremendously, about the only thing that does kick and cause the barrel to flip are the 3" magnum slugs. But still very much lighter than if it didn't have that stock.

Simon,

We just had our San Gabriel Shoot yesterday. BUT.... you can meet us with Shawn and the rest of the .50 cal guys this sunday June 18th at Angeles. They'll be blastin' away WAAAAY down the end of the rifle range.

At 600 yards "shooting at 600 yards? no problem!" :D

I'll have to save up some ammo for sunday's shoot. USPSA match saturday and outdoor shoot on sunday is hell on the wallet

Hope to see ya out there! :)

Hell on the wallet? Man, I just got into digital SLR photography. One lens costs as much as a handgun! :what: :cuss:

USPSA match sounds like fun!

Kman we miss your photography skills at the shoots! BB, thank you VERY much for the use of your CZ 452 since I brought almost all handguns and we were stuck shooting at 50yards and more. I almost thought about selling or putting away my 10/22 and buying a CZ myself today since I am now spoiled by the accuracy of it.

Ended up buying a Rossi mod 62 22lr pump and a Lee Enfield no 1 Mk 3* though today instead. I got to stay out of gun shops! It was nice to attend another shoot and I will start getting stuff ready in preparation for the next one.

and we were stuck shooting at 50yards and more.

Yeah, sorry about that. BTW, most of the people who shoot my CZ452 are impressed. But you are always smart to get the milsurp now and wait on a rifle that is still in production.

[Man, I just got into digital SLR photography. /QUOTE]

So that's where you've been. . .

BTW, thanks to those who were able to make it this time. Sorry I was a little late. Also, I was kinda busy sighting in my new Savage, so I wasn't able to chit-chat too much with everyone, but it's nice to meet you, Robert.

If you really need a reason to drain your wallet there's a 1919 shoot in July.:D Check Rich's website http://www.shoot1919a4.com/ I told him to put the location in stone and let people worry about getting there.

Now that you guys are being taken by the dark side, we'll have to get you into 1919's and *gasp* .50's. Oh yeah, Tannerite also.
