Contemplating shipping an eotech sight from the US to the Philippines. Any legal hassles/obstacles, or would it be considered an optics type equipment? Thanks in advance.
Hey thanks for the link. You're right it is dizzying. I didn't see sights listed specifically, unless they are considered as "target acquisition devices".
This Holographic Weapon Sight must be exported from the United States in accordance with Export Administration Regulations ECCN 0A987. Diversion contrary to U.S. law is prohibited.
Exporting anything weapons related can get you in trouble in fact.
There are some countrys you can ship certain things to, and others you can't ship anything too under U.S. law.
Then, what about the laws in the country you ship too?
You have to know them as well.
Think of the policy what you like, but it's the law.
I'm constantly getting people outside the US wanting to buy EOTech sights. When I explain that I can't export them, they come up with ways to get around it. "Ship it to my cousin, and he'll send it to me." At that point, if I ship it, I become an accessory to a crime. No thanks.
If the sight is intercepted, both the shipper and recipient get in hot water.
