ASK FOR THE BOOK
when you go to the gun counter
ask for the book
there are a few

if it's in the book they can get it, and the AR's have been in the book for a while

I ONCE made the mistake of walking into a KFC right next to a Walmart out in B.F.E. Va.

Thought I died and woke up on the set of a Jerry Springer show.

I believe I actually said, "Holy crap..." audible for at least a few people to hear it.

turned around and walked out....fast.

Walmarts here in Arkansas are like ticks in Texas. Most of them do have guns and ammunition. When aWalmart opens in a town prices seem to drop throughout the local area. Some, have gun savvy clerks.. They also seem to provide a lot of jobs to young people retirees and others. I don't own any WM stock, but I really can't agree with WM bashers. They have always saved me a lot of money

^^^ Only Chinese body parts though.

Careful how you joke, that is actually done now.

In China the death penalty fluctuates with the demand for organs.
People are put to death and their organs sold for thousands on the market, especially to foreigners.
Almost anyone charged in China is found guilty, the process is just a formality.

Some people trying to cover the story or talk about it have been arrested or gone missing.
Here is a story on the death penalty and the organs:

In China they have mobile execution buses that harvest the organs which are then sold.

do you know if this applies to reloading supplies

I know the sporting goods manager at my local Super Wal*Mart and he tells me the managers have some disgression as to what they can choose to stock. There's the stuff that they are plan-o-grammed to stock, and then they can add on something they think will sell well. Some sporting goods managers are gun people, some are against guns. It's not a requirement to be a sporting person to be a sporting goods manager.

@ Zoogster

Scary isn't it... Organ tourists arrive, get a pager then "miraculously" an organ appears.

More and more Hospitals here in the US will refuse to see you short of an emergency basis if you go abroad for your internal organ shopping.

Edit- Didn't mean to contribute to derailing... just have a friend who's mother lives in HK... he visits her rarely with good cause.

Where else could one go shopping in a pair of tiger-skin pajamas, sunglasses, and flip-flops ... and fit right in?

It's an individual store manager thing.

Actually its not. I work for WalMart, and in a sporting goods dept. Its a Demographic issue. The decisions come solely out of Bentonville Arkansas.

Its funny, but my store is over 50 miles from Chicago, yet we dont sell guns because we are "Too close to Chicago", but Chicago wont allow WalMart in the city.

Chicago and its sick liberals dictate the gun laws to the entire state, yet have one of the worst gun violence demographics in the world. So much for outright gun bans.

. What they don't send is extra payroll to pay employees to move entire departments around, so most store managers install the new fixtures and order/display new guns when they get the extra time/ money

Now thats something I would love to see. Walmart Managers working that is.:D

I don't know why so many people dis Wal Mart. I'd consider them an American marketing success story. They hire a lot of handicapped people that most wouldn't, they provide a lot of jobs, and they sell merchandise at prices a lot of people couldn't afford elsewhere. Yes, they do sell a lot of Chinese made products. Any of you guys have a non-US made item? They may have put some small mom and pop businesses out of business but on the plus side they employ a lot more people than the mom and pops did and believe me those mom and pop stores didn't pay much or provide much in the way of benefits either. If you don't like Wally World no one's dragging you there either.
All that being said, the one nearest me has a decent selection of rifles and shotguns. Lots of ammo and a good range of pistol ammo too. I buy lots of WWB ammo there for plinking and reloading. Most of the people who work the gun counter at our store are knowledgeable about the subject. Most are also shooters or hunters too.

And do you think WalMart hires those handicapped persons out of compassion or the big tax incentives?

Yep- Local WalMart (Atlanta suburb) carries Bushmaster 5.56, and Rossi/Taurus Curcuit Judge .410-.45LC carbine

Stopped in the Wal-Mart on the NE side of San Antonio last night and was surprised to see an AR-15 sitting on the shelf. The were asking somewhere near $875 for it and two spots down was a Mini 14 for $680. They also had the above mentioned Rossi .410. Was in Abilene Texas recently abd their Super Walmart had a very nice reloading section.

Ask to see that catalog!! Half of our wal-mart's here sell long guns and pistols. When I was looking for one they didn't have the clerk pulled out a "Wal-mart Firearms distributor catalog," or something to that title. Anyhow, it was a 2011, glossy, full-color company catalog of the available firearms from their distributor. Complete with SKU numbers and prices.

I read an article on the local news channel that about 50% of walmarts will sell firearms in the future, but no handguns.

Correction from an earlier post. Just went to the closest WalMart by my house here in Phoenix, to grab an oil filter for my car. Decided to swing by the gun counter. They now carry the Bushmaster M4A3, as of two days ago. $897

Guy behind the counter said they'll be stocking them from now on, not a temporary thing.

I'm surprised they didn't leap into such a lucrative market sooner. I just wonder if every 3 in 29 AR's Walmart have little kiddie fingerprints in their boors.

Because 80% of what they sell comes from China. You can't employ with one hand while you are killing jobs with the other. WalMart is renown for going into small towns and running the local stores out and then leaving town. That's not a success story.

K-Mart had a great sports department 25 years ago. Auto-parts, too. No more. I think I have more long guns than my local Wal-mart. The ammo section is fairly good.
