had a great range day today. brought 4 guns super redhawk, xdm 9mm, les. baer monolith heavyweight and a smith and wesson 586.
set up my steel targets 10 inch bullseye gong at 25 yrds, 6 inch at 50 yards and hung a golf ball from the 25 yrd frame .
first up xdm and nailed the 6 inch gong the first shot. It was going to be a good day. also had a gopro on recording but then missed 3 shots in a row before resuming hits on it.
tried the golf ball with the 1911 and 200 gr lswc with vvn320. hit the target on the second try looping the paracord around the support. even more fun was that the gopro was on. hit it several more times over the course of the session. once on the first try.(that baer is an accurate gun.) i had just brought that prewired golfball as an afterthought. it's for my 223 boltgun. also had a great time banging on the gongs with all four guns. even hit the 225 yrd gong with the 44 mag rested and single action but it did use up 8 xtp rounds.
this was going to be great footage.
turns out small targets even painted orange don't show up well at 25 or 50 yrds. another factor was setting the resolution lower but with a higher frame rate. after zooming in the picture was worse.
had a good shooting day but looking at the video was a complete let down.
how close are all those first person youtube videos(most of which were probably taken on gopros) that I've admired for so long where the targets were so clearly seen?
below is a pic of the golf ball. it's like the equivalent of those souvenir shirts that says... my grandfather went to so and so place and all i got was this lousy t shirt.
