here's a couple of videos from my range outing yesterday.

used my 1911 to try for golf balls again. wasn't as hot as last time when the video wasnt worth editing due to the size of the targets( shot 7 one string without even winging the ball this time) but did get to video the target separately. used 200 gr lswc with vvn320.

the other is just banging away with the cz sp01 also at 25 yrds . i traded in a another cz for this that had a smooth trigger but this cz has the worst trigger of the 4 that I've used. it does round out the collection thought. some of you may notice a couple of bullets that needed a second strike. 147 powder coated sns with unique.

When I bought my 3" 629 about 30 years ago, I would take some of my staff with me to the sand pit (for lack of a better word) far behind the place we worked.

One of the crew had come up with a box of old, used golfballs, so golfballs is what we mostly shot at.

We all agreed that it was wonderful the way that a golfball would !DISAPPEAR! when struck ... and often, after what seemed a long lapse, it would drop from the sky. :D

oir range is good in that it allows you to shoot steel but the closest range is 25 yards and its bring your own.they don't allow any reactive target unless it's tethered. it doesnt allow rapid shooting though except for double tap. max rate of fire is 1 per second.

I made my own target stands. The base is pvc while the uprights are 2x2's.

I drilled holes in the outside of the 2x2's and stuck skewer sticks in them. After drilling holes in the golf balls, I just stick them on the skewer sticks. This way the don't swing back and forth.

I went to the local driving range and picked up a 5 gal. bucket of old balls for nothing so, when they fly off to never never land, I just put on a new ball.

Eventually, the skewer stick gets too short and you have to replace it, or risk shooting your upright in half.

We tried a soft core "T Ball" which I bought on close out from wally world one time.
After shooting a bit, I kept hearing sonic crack going past me. The bullet was hitting the ball spinning halfway around and coming back at us.
No more shooting balls for me.
By the way this was with a .22 WMR, not sure if a larger caliber would do the same, still I wont chance it.

I was once chatting to an old geezer who claimed he tried shooting cast lead (out of a webley?) at golf balls, but stopped after he hit one almost perfectly causing the bullet to richochet back past one ear followed momentarily by the golf ball passing the other ear at impressive speed after bouncing off the backstop. It may have been BS but he was adamant on only shooting at targets that would either absorb the bullet or pass it straight through.

it actually passes through the golf ball at 25 yrds and even at 50 yrds with a 22 lr from a rifle
