Shooting in Hollywood - What would you do?

I don't normally care for "What ifs" but I was very surprised that all those folks drove right by the guy and no one thought to run him over

From watching the video, I don't think the drivers knew what was going on till they were driving past him and he was shooting at them.

As to what I would do?

If I had access to a gun, I would have tried to engage him, hopefully things would work out well, but I could not stand by and watch it happen with out trying to do something. I commend the guy with the camera for seeking to divert the shooters attention. He did what he could, at risk of his own life.

Ragnar, such a situation was discussed during the legal portion of the CCW class. An example was brought up in which a restaurant was held up. Some customers had CPLs but did not draw their weapons. Someone called 911.
The problem with such a situation is that when the police arrive they have no idea who the perp(s) are. They see a person with a weapon and they will assume that person is a perp.
Every situation is different and has to be assessed based on many factors. According to the lawyer giving the class the CPL holders in the restaurant acted wisely. You have many customers, and the potential for greater harm existed. The first action is to call 911.

Bravo to the guy in the window for doing something and trying to talk down the maniac, distract him, and directing the police to the maniac. I would have probably tried to do the same but would have likely peed myself a little too.

It's a shame the guy in the window didn't have a crossbow, bow and arrow, shotgun, or rifle. Any of those could have stopped the maniac shooter in the street. He stopped moving a few times and was fairly close.

Then ill wait with my hands on my head until the deputies show up.

Unless you are trying to say to them "I broke the law" i would skip this part. Putting your gun away is probably a better idea.

Assuming I'm not his next target, I'd drive away fast. I have a family that depends on me to be around (yes I have life insurance). They are my first priority.
