Shooting through windshield-from inside

Noise issues: In my younger and much stupider days, I fired six shots from a .357 (yeah, .357 ammo too) from the inside of a car. No hearing protection. I got lucky and my hearing is right in line for a guy my age. However, my ears did ring for several days after.

Dang. I fired ONE shot from a .357 revolver without ear protection back in 1978..........never again !

I hear ya...;)

However if it's self-defense, I am not going to be very concerned about my ears.

JMHO

Dieselkanic, guess I should have been clearer - it's not the end of the world if you have to shoot from inside of a car - I did it (stupid reason) and hear fine. I would not hesitate to drop the hammer due to noise considerations. IMHO, that's one of the less well thought out reasons for shoot/don't shoot decisions.

A LA state trooper was in a shootout from inside his car some years ago according to one of the "true crime" type shows. IIRC he was involved in a collision with a criminal and the guy jumped out and started shooting at him while he was still in his seat belt.

44's inside

Long time ago me and brother in law were cruising and his long lost brother just happened to pull up beside us in a big rig diesel, I was driving and he was waving and yelling and trying to get his brothers attention out the window, when this failed he decided to reach under the car seat and retrieve the 44 magnum, at which I say what are you doing? Gonna get his attention.....somehow upon getting the gun the hammer got pulled back, don't know if it was the seat springs hung it or what because I was watching the road and telling him NO, No...as he brings it up about dashboard level, BOOM!!!! Nice 1/2 inch hole in the front windshield.....very, very loud. So yes, you can shoot from inside a vehicle through the glass......I, however, do not recommend it without double hearing protection, earplugs in and earmuffs over.........rip
