Short Chambered Gold Cup

I have a brand new Colt Gold Cup upper assembly I've built onto a new National Match lower receiver. My problem is the new barrel is short chambered, Has anyone ever seen this before. I discovered short chamber when fitting barrel hood with a factory round, then verified with head space gage.
I'm going to have to rent a 45ACP reamer as I see no profit in buying one

Is the barrel a NM Colt barrel? I have owned and shot four Colt Gold Cup pistols( 2 series 70 and 2 series 80) and have never seen a short chambered barrel. Is it possibly a custom target barrel to accept 45 wad cutter bullet only like the gold Cup 38 special or the S&W Model 52 Master? These two pistols will only chamber a WC bullet seated flush with the case mouth. Strange?

A Colt National Match barrel is throated for 230 grain FMJ-RN Match ammo, and the leade will have to be lengthened for best results with full dia shoulder SWC or TC or some HP bullets. The shoulder of those bullets will hit the leade when seated normally.

If the actual chamber is too short for a standard max length .898" case to headspace after fitting the barrel hood to the slide, you will have to ream it.

If I understand, this is not a factory pistol. He built it from assemblies.

I'm expecting that rc model's second paragraph is hitting the nail right on the head. Navyretired said that he fit the hood, now the chamber is short. This certainly occurs if one cuts the hood short to fit the barrel to the slide. Reaming is to be expected.

This upper assembly is all Colt and came as one boxed Gold Cup National Match Series 70 45ACP. I bought it New about 20 years ago.
Then head space was origanally found to be short when it wouldn't close as a complete gun and I saw slide was about 1/32" from all the way forward. The I pulled barrel from gun and inspected with good light, No problem. Placed a new hardball round in and it was proud of hood about the same 1/32". Next tried a fired empty case with same result. I then used a friend's go-gage and the chamber was actually that short.
It's a Colts barrel and it is short chamber, no mistake. I just wanted to know if anyone else has seen this problem. Remember It was bought as a never assembled into a gun assembly.
I've bought 3 other Gold Cup assemblies like this and assembled guns with them, this has never happened before.
I just wanted to know if anyone else had ever seen problem?
