SHOT Day 1- Revision Eyewear

Revision makes good eyewear. Ben Wearing tells us that the Army is sourcing most of their eyewear now from revision.

They will withstand a #6 blast at 12'.

Reasonably priced and comfortable, the Revision pieces are quickly and easily customizable by bending the frames into place. The best thing about the Revision pieces is their resilience to unintentional bending, and ability to be easily returned to original form.

Prices for the 2 lens kit is $70, as are the glasses you can see on the left if I remember correctly. The second post above shows the inserts that can allow you to wear eye pro with your prescription as well.

Looks like great stuff. At a very reasonable price.

Yes, the Army is getting most of it's eyewear from Revision. They must have underbid Oakley, because that was the previous supplier. Myself and many of the troops I know prefer the old Oakleys and wear them instead. The Revision Sawflys are not as comfortable and it's harder to change the lenses than the Oakleys.

Have they done anything to help prevent scratches? I used some Revisions in Iraq, and they would get much more scratched than the Oakleys I was issued. I liked them - other than the fact that I eventually couldn't see out of them.

Why would you want inserts?
Wouldn't an actual Z87.1+ high velocity impact resistant Rx lens that gives you peripheral vision in focus make you happier? I went to the revision booth and was not impressed with the fit (face angle, etc.) and options. They will have to do better before I stock them.

Um, that statement seems a little self-serving, considering the company in your sig line. If you want to start a thread debating the merits of types of protective prescription eyewear, you're welcome, but that doesn't belong here.

I admit it was a little self serving with the web link, but not much different than someone saying their compass is awesome and someone else from a GPS company saying there is something that works better for most people.

P.S. I was not the first or even second person to criticize the product in question. I'll stand by my statement that I was unimpressed.

No, you're welcome to bring some useful points and talk about the good/bad/whatever. But start a thread in firearm accessories, not the SHOT forum.

I posted here because I was AT the SHOT show as a buyer/evaluator. Revision is not a competitor of ours, they are a manufacturer, like any other supplier at the show. We purchased frames from other vendors for various reasons.
Is the SHOT show section supposed to just be for free advertising for certain manufacturers? or for a discussion of that particular manufacturer? or for no discussion at all?

Seriously, I was not the first to complain or make an unfavorable comment. I won't say their stuff is terrible, it's not. It's just not the best out there as has been said by several posters ahead of me.

Someday we might purchase from them, just not these products and not at this show.

I'll leave it alone, you can have the last word.

I have worn Revision's stuff in the Army.

Their Sawfly line is UGLY, but they work well.
