I took my 10mm witness compact to the range today. And I like it :D . The double action trigger pull is WAY too heavy though. But in single action mode I was shooting it better than I shoot most autos. It seemed to like the CCI 200 grain load. But it was throwing the empties 30 feet or so.

Please post some break in data

I want one, been looking at one for months, but my ffl guy is not actually a dealer...yet...darn. Anyhow, please post all your experience with this gun. I use this board for a reality check way more than any ads, gun magazines and most gunstore counter people.

I actually like to hear that the DA pull is heavy because I want want one for CCW, but I think the 10mm only comes in full size:( . How's the SA trigger? Because for plinking, you always have time to pull back the hammer and take your time.

You can try to find a used S&W 1076. It's got a 4-1/4" barrel.

EAA is currently importing polymer compact versions of the 10mm for sale right now. If you want a Glock, they always have the compact 29 offering. Those are the two smalled 10mms I have ever seen. Your only other options is some of the smaller Smiths and perhaps a Dan Wesson commander-size 1911.

My 10mm Witness has a good SA trigger pull, but the double action is quite heavy. Good thing you can carry them cocked and locked. :)

No EAA is importing the metal compacts. That's what mine is. Weighs in at 30 ounces.

I recently got a full size witness 10 with the .45 conversion. Haven't shot the .45 yet, but have put several hundred mixed rounds thru the 10. I found the gun very enjoyable with my carry load of 175gr silvertips. the 200gr blazer is much less powerful but about as accurate. the PMC 10 is stout compared to the blazer. The trigger pull seems to get smoother with use and the single action is just fine. Very good feeling gun. It has the wonder finish which seems to be standing up OK at this point - gun was made aug of 97.

Both full size and compact steel models, and also the P-carry (polymer framed full size with compact slide). I have a steel compact and it is my everyday (almost) carry piece. It is a bit large for light clothing days, but generally quite tolerable. It is dimensionally very close to a S&W 5906/4006. The compact model can be a bit fussy with 200 grain full power loads and mine will not feed the Norma 170 grain stuff at all, but with 180 grainers it's fine. I have been able to coax 1340 FPS with 180's (slightly over 1,400 from my 5" guns).

Just understand that the Witness' need a little "fluff and buff" to achieve their full potential. I'd post a pic of mine if my camera software were working, but you'll have to settle for a description.

Internal work:
-smooth and polish all contact points for trigger linkage (dropped the pull from ~5# to 3.8#.

-polished feed ramp

-smooth and polish slide and frame rails.

-bevel bottom of extractor and polish

-swapped stock mag springs for Beretta 92 15 round mag springs (had some last-shot hold open issues)

External work
-Hogue hand-all's

-welded material to the front of the trigger guard then ground it to my liking (similar shape to that of a S&W 4506) and checkered it.

Beveled all sharp edges on the muzzle and milled down protruding rails to a 3/8" round.

-rounded front of ejection port (snag point)

It's kind of difficult to visualize, and I will post pics when I get my software issues worked out.
