In my previous thread for thoughts on an 870 and a slug barrel, several members here suggested a Savage 220, bolt action 20 gauge. I've been looking for one, in left hand, and, since they appear to be unobtainum, along with about everything else right now, I figure I may as well identify a scope for it that I can't find either....
So, those shooting the 220 Savage, or other 20 ga slug guns as well maybe, what are your thoughts on a slug gun scope for it for 100 yards and less? I do prefer a scope over irons, and the gun doesn't come with irons. I'm thinking something like a 2-7...

It seems as there aren’t nearly as many shotgun scopes made today as there were just a couple of years ago. Leupold made one I like but it has been discontinued. I think I’d probably get a Burris Droptine 2-7x35 Shotgun/Rimfire scope. Mueller makes a shotgun scope but I’ve never even seen a Mueller scope in person. Hawke I believe makes one too but I owned an Endurance 2-7 for about a day and sent it back, the glass underwhelmed me.

A red dot will work well for some people. Unfortunately for me my eyes are only good to a max of around 50 yards with zero magnification and 50 yards might be a stretch.

Leupold does make a Shotgun specific 2x7 but I just put a Leupold 4x12 on mine and it's killed 3 deer in the last 2 years.

Honestly, for intended use, you need nothing more than a Simmons fixed 4x shotgun scope. Glass is fine and they’ll hold up. Cheap as chips too.

If it is like their old pro diamond 4x, the eye relief is quite generous (5" ?), at considerable FOV expense.

Yes they work. Other stuff IMHO works better.
