is there a way to find out which bb pistol gets the most shots from a co2 catridge?

The only real way is to try it and count each time, but your results will vary depending on the temperature and how fast you fire each shot; the faster you fire, the colder the CO2 bulb will get, which reduces the internal pressure, which reduces your velocity, and so on.

I should have explained more, i sensed that we had esp but maybe not! I have an rws air rifle but no air pistol. Im thinking about buying one for a cheaper quieter way to help lady friend learn to defend herself. She has a tarus milinneum pro 9 mm.

In that case, most CO2 pistols end up getting about the same number of shots per capsule, but in this case, you're probably more interested in finding a pistol that's as close to the live gun that she'd be using. I can't think of anyone making a BB copy of the Taurus, but there is a Beretta PX4 copy that's fairly close. I'd take a look at http://www.pyramydair.com/a/Air_guns/Air_pistols/CO2/168 to see what's closest to what she'd actually be using.

You might consider airsoft. There was a Taurus branded airsoft gun marked PT111 that was pretty close but it of course has nothing near the weight. Still the magazine release is in the same place and works the same way and the same is true of the safety. A lady I know that has a PT 111 ( I believe that to be what the millinum is) has such an air soft and she uses the air soft to practice clearing the gun from where it is carried and getting a shot off at 3 yards. Her target is a bath towel over the shower curtain rod and hits locations are easily noted.
I feel her training to get the gun out and make that first shot at close range is more useful to her than bullseye shooting with a more powerful and accurate BB gun or pellet pistol.
The Air soft was bought at Sports Authority some years ago so good luck fining one, but you never know.
edit: I just found them on Pyramid air for about $10. They are now black rather than clear.

^^ Back in the eighties, I had a Crosman 357 revolver, and that's about what I got out of it. I don't know if the current crop of them still break open at the top to load, but mine did. Eventually, the tab that locked it closed broke off. The new ones with the fake brass cases look pretty cool, at least, in the packages at Wal-Mart.
I just picked up yesterday a Gamo PT-85 from Wal-Mart, for $69. I have not yet tried it out, but I do understand that the use of some of the gas to cycle the slide (purely for simulation of that of a cartridge gun's action) severely reduces the "shots-per-bottle" count. I figure I'll be okay if I get 20 or so.
