Hi all. I need some help here as I am unsure of what to do. I have a Remington 742 Carbine chambered in 308 Win. The gun is in MINT, and I mean MINT condition and has only ever fired 60 shots at the range. It has never been hunted with. I have it up for sale for $550 and a guy has offered me his Remington 710 chambered in 7mm Rem Mag with cheap scope and bi-pod, and a TOZ model 120 double barrel shotgun chambered in 12 gauge. Both of his guns were purchased last fall and in MINT condition. The TOZ has only fired four shells and the Remington has only fired 10 rounds. What should I do? Should I accept the trade or not??? I know about the not so great quality of the 710 but I know nothing about the TOZ. Please help me out!!

NO DON'T DO IT. The Remington 710 is a very cheaply made rifle. Basically a throw away. The barrel is pressed in.Very crude workmanship. I think you'd be making a bad trade for a 710.

I'd pass. TOZ has made competition guns like free pistols, but even assuming the shotgun is on par with their competition guns, you're still getting a 710 with it.

Think of the trade like this:

He's offering you an off-brand shotgun that might be decent, and a tire iron.

I wouldn't if it were me. I'll be honest I have no idea what a TOZ120 is. All I know I wouldn't own a 710 personally. You have to make the final decision what they are worth to you. The 742's had their share of problems. If your 742 performs well I would stick with it. You can do so much better then a 710.
