Should I dump a PM9

Just looking for some outside opinion....

I recently bought a Walther PPS; love the way it fits in my hand, and how it shoots. I also own a few other small autos - a Kel-Tec P32, a Ruger LCP and a Kahr PM9. The .32 and .380 are just fine in my collection, but seeing as how I have never liked carrying the PM9 in a pocket, should I dump it?

I don't need the money, but I also don't see myself carrying the PM9 much these days......maybe never? Anyone want a PM9 :D

Since offloading the PM9 would not be a financially driven decision, you could try trading it for something that interests you. Tons of people throw up firearms or accessories on sights like Armslist of stuff to trade just to see who wants a gun for something else.

I find the PM9 to be a great deep concealment 9mm. I carry it on the belt or in the pocket. I stuff a rag in the pocket to break up the outline of the gun in a Remora holster. It really shines in the appendix position up front. It truly doesn't print, even with today's tighter shirts.

If it's reliable, keep it. You may need it.

I'm with tomrkba; I find it really easy to pocket carry my CM9 in a DeSantis Nemesis holster. I would hang on to it as it could serve as a back-up to the Walther PPS should the need arise.

It's bigger than, say, the P3AT or LCR for pocket carry, but it's also more powerful and easier to shoot. Don't think you're restricted to pocket carry with the PM9, though. It carries great IWB, too.

If you'd rather have the cash or a different gun, it carries a decent sale price and trade value.

The PM9 is one of the finest concealable semi auto pistols available. I carry mine a a variety of holsters and it will always be my carry gun of choice in thin wool dress pants.

As a general rule, if a gun shoots fine and is reliable, I'll keep it, absent compelling circumstances.

Ya never know what the future will bring....

I generally agree with the above, however...
My PM9 was traded in on something more reliable as soon as I could get rid of it.
If I came into another one somehow, it would be gone in a trade ASAP.

The three Kahrs that I owned were bad enough to turn me off to the brand forever. YMMV.

I have a CM9 and it runs like a champ.

One of the things that I like about the CM9 and PM9 is that they are IMO, the least ammo sensitive of the pocket nines.

I've run 124gr NATO, 147gr Remington Golden Saber, 147gr Federal HST, 147gr Winchester Ranger "T" Series through my CM9 with no malfunctions, and I can practice with cheap Federal and Winchester 115gr ammo and the gun functions fine.

As long as it's reliable I would never get rid of it. From everything I've read over the years they are a great little pistol. I'm not big on .380 or .32 for several reasons. If you let it go there is a good chance you will wish you hadn't down the road at some point.

Trade a gun for another But I never sell mine out right. Because the pistol gone and most cases the money is all so in a day or 2 . A loose loose

I liked my PM9 so much I just recently bought a PM40. Size wise I think they are the ideal IWB carry pistols. Night sights and as noted above they gobble up everything I feed them. I'd never sell one!

I'd keep the 9 if reliable and you like it. 9x19 is my minimum CCW choice though. Good luck.

I've had my PM9 for almost ten years now, and it will never be for sale.
I've had 4 KTs, 2 LCPs, and at least six j-frames, etc.

All of them (exc. for one j-frame) are long gone and the PM9 is still in my pocket. (Added a P45 shortly after the PM9.)

I recently added a CW380, which is a bit smaller (about LCP size) but I am not entirely trusting of the .380 cartridge. That is my problem, and I understand that.

I used to want one, but then they came out with a PM45:D. It doesn't fit in some of my pockets, but I'm taking the opposite strategy and replacing my pants and shorts as they wear out with some that have big enough pockets.

However, I can't think of an upside to keeping anything when you have others that serve your preference and that you like better. I doubt the PM9 will be a collector's item any time soon, but (IMO) it is a good looking and functional design.

Like 420Stainless I got a PM45. I carry it IWB in shorts, jeans, dress pants. If I were to go to 9mm the PM9 would be my first choice. If you don't need it sell it to someone who wants one.

The PPS is a superb pistol. But the PM9 has it's place too. It's smaller, and can be pocketable (whereas the PPS just barely exceeds that threshold for me). And you can never have enough small reliable 9mm carry guns.

It's funny how over the past 20 years I've gone through phases with respect to concealed carry. Even though your PM9 has fallen out of favor in summer of '15, I wouldn't be surprised to see it make its way back at some point in the future.

Given your situation you described, I'd keep it.

I bought my PM9 in 2011. It has the black diamond finish slide w/night sights.
It had to go back to Kahr twice for legitimate issues in order to get it to function 100%...or so I think right now.
I don't carry it or shoot it but with what I have invested in spare Kahr parts, mags and holsters I can't afford to sell it so...in the safe it sits. It doesn't cost anything to let it sit there. ;)
I've been offered less than half of what I have into it. :(
I've had FTF conversations with other shooters in regard to selling it. Most are turned off by all the negative Internet reports about the smaller Kahr firearms.
