I went shopping around the pawn shops yesterday and found this pristene 6 inch 586. They were asking 399.00+tax for it. I checked it out and the bluing is pretty much flawless and the lock up is a tight as a bank vault. I don't recall the "dash" number but is a pre-lock smith. I'm off friday and may have another look at it. What would be a good offer to make if I decide to get it.

Thanks, Flip.

Offer $350 and see where it goes. $400 is already a decent price if it's in excellent condition and checks out.

That sounds great to me! That was my first revolver, I love it, bought it used right after I turned twenty in the same condition yours is, but I paid sixty bucks more.

It's awesome, if you have the money and want/need a .357 pick it up!

I wish it were in my part of the country, because if it is as good as you say it is I would pick it up in a hurry. I've been wanting a good .357 lately.

I have a 586 and it happens to be my favorite revolver. I'd offer $350 and see what happens. If you end up paying $399 it's still a fair price.

Man!
you guys make me want to take a hour off of work tomarrow and go over there and get it. Who know's:neener:. Tomarrow is my birthday but I also work in a very busy ER to boot. I'm off Friday though but that's a whole nother day away:banghead:. I'll see what I can swing with my charger nurse. Here's my "all you can eat buffet" for this if I get it.

Flip;).

Grab it. I have one and it can compete with any Python for fit and finish, accuracy and trigger pull. Best .357 revolver made in my opinion.

I'ld jump on it. Offer $400 OTD. Here in Houston, TX (8.25% tax rate), that would save about $30 in taxes. I've found pawnshop owners are more willing to do that than drop their sticker price. It works out almost the same ~ at $350, the tax would still be about $32, totaling about $382 ~ but it *feels* less painful to the shop owner.

Q

buy it

I bought a four inch 586 dash nothing at a gunshow in Tucson last year for $400. It showed some holster wear, but other than that it was great. Beautiful DA pull, and plenty accurate. It was between that gun and a 4 inch model 19 in the same condition for $450. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Forgot to add, if it is a dash 1 or no dash look for an M stamped in the yoke. Before I bought mine I didn't know about the recall issued to change out the hammer nose and firing pin bushing. Since mine doesn't have the "m" stamping I presume it was not sent back and modified. But it has run like a champ so far.......

OK!OK!OK!:neener:. I'll go tomarrow. Thust me, I've been thinking about it all day but we got our but's handed to us in a paper sack today. I already have 18 rounds loaded up for it consisting of 6.2 gr. of unique in Winchester .357 mag cases, with Winchester small pistol primers and topped off with 158 gr. LSWC's. I'm also getting my Bushnell 2-6x32 elite 3200 handgun scope with Millet rings tomarrow for my newly aquired Ruger Charger. Saturday's going to be a good day at the range.

After seeing the prices on the older Smiths at the gun shows lately, last week I saw this 586-3 at a local gun store for $550. If it had been in the box it could pass for a brand new gun.

I wasn't interested in getting a 586 but I had to take it home.:)
Been shooting it all week.

M2 Carbine,

except for the engraving, it's in pretty much the same condition as yours. I stopped buy on the way home to have a look in the window to see if it is still there. The store was closed and they had the lights off. I really couldn't see if it was there or not. I guess I'll know at 08:30 tomarrow morning when I show up with cash in hand. I'm going to offer 399.00 OTD. We'll see;).

Well, hopefully it's still there. It would have been prudent to call the owner and put a hold on the item. I've seen far too many great deals vanish seemingly within my grasp.

Please post a photo here when you get it. I think you'll be thrilled with it.
