Sent my older J-frame off to S&W for repair. I'd taken the side plate off for some routine lubrication (something I routinely don't do) and discovered the concealed hammer was askew... sitting at a funny angle. Also on the inside of the side plate was an arc shaped scratch where the hammer nose had scraped against it. The peg the hammer pivots on had broken apart. :scrutiny: Honestly I never noticed anything odd about the trigger pull, I suppose it may have broken 10-20 years ago and I just got used to the feel. Never a failure to fire. :feet:

So S&W sent me a shipping label and took custody 5 weeks ago. Just got it back today, 100%, and they refinished the gun. It didn't need refinishing, the blue was a good 95%, but there it is, brand spankin' new-ish. No charge, not even for shipping. On a gun that went out of warranty when I still had hair.

Thank you, Smith & Wesson!

I have had nothing but great experience with S&W. I even sent a M10 in for a re-blue and the cost was reasonable and it came back like a completely new pistol.

Other calls for minor things have resulted in the parts shipping free of charge when I didn't expect that to be the case.

Top Notch Company.

I've enjoyed the same level of service from S&W as well. Of the twenty or so, Smiths, I've owned over the past 6 decades, only 2 needed work. One was over 30 years old and the other, a M-63 was new...neither cost me a dime, to include shipping both ways. And both are better than new now. Thx S&W....now if you could only get rid of that bloomin' "infernal lock" on the new models.....Rod

Good; S&W has taken a lot of bashing in recent years especially on
the forum dedicated to its products. Hope more folks speak up about
the positive aspects of the company's guns and its CS.

We'll see---I just purchased a NIB 629 deluxe 3in---when I got it home something wasn't right---either the front sight is bent or the barrel is canted--I really don't care its inexcusable for a brand new gun over 1k---its going back to the dealer tomorrow to let them deal with it.

It happens. I think we all understand that anything man made, and made by man or machine, can have QC issues. I bet they make it right. I mean, it is Smith & Wesson, after all. There are numerous brands out there that i wouldn’t feel confident sending back that it would come back corrected.

I called them trying to buy spare springs for my 3913, they would not let me purchase them, sent them free of charge even when I said I just wanted them for backups later down the road.
