I just received an email with advertisement regarding side charger for AR.
Just wondering if somebody used and is it worth $60 to spend on it.

This looks like it just actuates a pushrod against the existing, regular charging handle?
Well, Ive used the Devildog Concepts Hardcharger which is similar, but slightly more elaborate since it includes a unitary CH.

On the plus side, it eliminates the need to forward-mount your scope to avoid interference with your fingers when pulling the CH. It also looks cool and is non-reciprocating, so theres that. The CH can still be pulled like normal if required.

On the downside, It clutters up the top rail, adds weight, sticks out far enough to snag on stuff, and by offsetting the force applied to the charging handle away from the guns centerline, actually ADDS effort to pulling the handle back.

So for a benchrest rifle with a big, long scope, it may make some sense, but I wouldn't put one on a serious fighting gun.

looks like crap. Like a poor man’s Devil Dog side charger. Of which I have/had too. Read below.

had/have on mine too. I still have it on my home defense 300 blk out. But that’s cause it hardly gets used. Thankfully.

it was a fun concept. But it does add some friction. Had to lube the hell out of it make it run smooth. But it only lasted that way for the first 100-200 rounds then sucked.
