Sig 228 opinions

Just for grins, I sent my West German 228 back to the factory last summer for new night sights. It was sonic cleaned, lubed, new springs and sights, and shipping for $150. Came back oily in the original box wrapped in plastic, looking like new. Sig service is first rate...

A note for the OP; I'm sure the magazines were made for Sig by Mec-gar. Mine were.

Just noticed ..............5 year old thread?

That's okay because it was the OP (Hrsepwer), getting back to us after all these years to tell us:

[I want to say thanks to all who advised me to buy the Sig 228. Even though old arthritis has got me by the knuckles, the Sig is still a pistol I can shoot very well. Thanks gentlemen!
PS-Yes, the Hogue grips went right on, first thing./QUOTE]

You will not be disappointed.

The Sig P228 is truly one of my favorite 9mm pistols.

Very sharp 229 my friend. I miss mine a bunch and will have to replace it at some point in the future. :banghead:

Thanks! :)

I have nothing against new P229s, but I have a personal preference for the legacy P229 without the rail.

I am trying to decide whether or not to let my P229 Legion go at the moment. It is a fantastic gun, shoots like a dream and easy to carry. However, I could really use the cash of letting it, my P220 and a Springfield EMP go. So hard to do, they are such great guns. I liked the SRT so much I added it, a GrayGuns trigger and G10 grips to my P220 as well. So it is close to the Legion in function. However, the P220 is not as accurate as my PX4 Storm SD or 1911. So just trying to convince myself that I can live without them.

I feel the exact same way, I have a couple pistols with rails but I'm a firm believer that, for most situations, a light belongs in your hand.

I wouldn't sell any of my SIGs (love my P229R E2), nor do I think you should either; especially the P229 Legion.

Are you sure you don't have a spare kidney laying around somewhere that you could sell instead of one, or even both, (heaven forbid), of your SIGs?

Bannock, I will admit that I have a lot of hesitation on the Legion. The P220 is an easier decision because it is not as accurate as I had hoped it would be. So I have been dragging my feet on any sale. But I do think I will move ahead with the EMP and P220 sale and hold on the Legion for now. Mainly, because I expect I will kick myself later if I let it go.

Ah yes the ever popular "take foot, place it behind you, and kick oneself in the posterior" regretful decision making process.

Sell the others if you have to but keep the Legion.
