So I have decided I am getting a Sig 229 in .40 cal and am picking it up next week. It does come with 2 12 rd magazines, but thats never enough. Looking around it seems that the factory mags are a little pricy at 40 bucks a pop on places like auctionarms.com. There are the after market makers, but I am not sure if their mags are any good. Should I bite the bullet and buy the factory mags, or is there a company making reliable mags for less money?
This is the same problem I had with an HK USP9 that I traded off a while back. Of course, I think I am going to like this weapon more, anyway.

Thanks for all of your input.

I just ordered 2 - 12 rd mags from them. $29.99 each, shipping was only $5.95. I ordered on Tuesday and got them Wednesday, granted we are both in Ohio so it may take you a little longer. I will order from them again.

I have stuck to factory for SIG mags. If you go to SIGforum and do a search, you will see that people have reported reliability issues with Promags and USA mags. An exception is Mec-Gar - they are highly regarded by the SIGfolk and at one point they were the factory manufacturer of "SIG" mags.

As of a couple months ago when I ordered from there, CDNN had new LEO-marked 229 mags for $29.

I to have mostly factory mags for my Sig, but I find that Sigs aren't magazine sensitive, so you could probably get by with aftermarket.
