Does anyone here have a SIG Cross? I’m debating buying one and for hunting (would mainly shoot deer) and some long range shooting (alternate role). I’ve seen reviews from YouTubers, but am curious from common folk like us how it performs. Furthermore, should I go with .308 with a 16” or 6.5 Creedmoor with 18” barrel? I have .308 and 6.5 rifles already so I’m familiar with the capabilities/limitations of the cartridges; I am curious as to how each handles in the Cross and whether the 2” barrel length difference creates any perceivable balance/ergonomic/performance issues.

I recently handled both the 6.5 and the 308 Cross.
I have not gotten to shoot one though.

It's a really nicely put together rifle, and were I interested in buying one. It would probably be the creedmoor. In my opinion, it's about the ideal crossover deer/ long range chambering.

I would suggest handling a Cross before ordering one. Personally, I find them too small and I don't think I would be comfortable shooting one for an extended period of time. That was entirely personal preference, and the size may be a huge draw for you.

I don’t have any experience, but I am currently in a similar conundrum. I’m about to buy another rifle in 6mm Creed and I’ve narrowed my choices down to buying another Springfield Armory Waypoint or buying an Sig Cross and having a 6mm Creed barrel installed. I’ll probably end up with the Waypoint just because I already have two of them and love them, but the Cross is definitely intriguing. I’ve handled both the 16” and 18” and I think I would go with a 20” tube on mine. Definitely the 18” 6.5 CM if I was choosing between the factory options.

A shooting buddy of mine had one in 308. It wasn't very accurate, he tried several different bullet / powder combinations in it.
1.5" groups at 100 was about as good as it would shoot. He traded it for something else!

I have several; one in 308 and one that I re-chambered with a carbon fiber wrapped barrel in 257 Roberts. I am very fond of the rifle, and it may just be my favorite rifle of all time.

My principal complaint with it is that the bolt handle does not lock when the safety is on. Other than that, it does absolutely everything that I want to rifle to do. If I hunted in subzero temperatures, I might also quarrel with the all-metal touch points but that’s not an issue for me at the moment.

I have always struggled to shoot cloverleafs or better off a bench with a light rifle; this one was no different in that regard. I found that a can on the front to balance it better made a big difference for me. It's still not a 25lb precision rifle, but that's also the point - it's not a 25lb rifle.

With a 300 Harvester on the front, it balances well. Without the can, it's too muzzle-light for my taste. If you look at the rifle, it comes with short barrels specifically because it's designed to work with a can and still be pack-able.
